How to Start Making Money With Affiliate Marketing in 2022?

Affiliate marketing is one way to make money on the Internet. Affiliate marketing is supposed to produce passive income, but does it really work? Let’s take a closer look.

It is like a referral service. You set up a website or blog and join affiliate programs that are relevant to your audience. You can connect to these programs through affiliate networks, which provide you with a link that you include on your site. When someone clicks the link and buys the product, you get a portion of the sale as a commission.

It is relatively easy to get started in affiliate marketing, but generating sustainable income from affiliate programs is an entirely different ballgame. If you’re thinking of giving it a try, it is vital to lay the groundwork first.

Start by thinking about your audience. What kinds of goods and services do they want? Which products are you currently using that you would feel comfortable recommending to your readers? You can always add links to any affiliate program to your site. However, it would be best if you stuck to products that are connected with your websites to maximize the click-through rate and keep your audience.

Next, research individual affiliate programs to compare their structures. You want to consider factors such as the size of the commission and how often the company pays affiliates. Make sure you also understand any rules they impose on members of their affiliate networks. Always remember that you’re likely to make more money with affiliate marketing content that is similar to your own.

Finally, be upfront with your readers. Adding a disclosure to your blog posts or somewhere on your website lets them know that they may come across affiliate links. This disclosure adds to your credibility, and it is also required by the Federal Trade Commission’s endorsement guidelines.

7 Strategies For Generating More Affiliates

Strategy #1: Organic Facebook Marketing
facebook marketing

It’s fairly well accepted that organic reach on Facebook has become more and more difficult to harness. According to a HubSpot study, most people are 71% more likely to make purchases if referred to a product by social media.

Facebook (similar to most of the big-name online platforms) uses an algorithm to determine how much organic reach any given post receives. Once you figure out how to give it what it wants, you can reap the benefits as long as you show up consistently and play by the rules.

Here’s a quick breakdown of what seems to be working on Facebook, organically speaking, in 2021:

  • Posting in groups and on personal profiles gets better reach than posting to business pages, so many marketers are focusing their energy in those two places.
  • Groups are a great way to connect with your target audience. You can either create your own group and build a community in it or join other groups and connect with others in them. In groups that you own you get to make the rules (aside from obeying Facebooks terms and policies).
  • Some groups can be joined as a business page, but many require that you use your personal profile. Once you have met someone in a group and mutually added them as a friend, you can market to them (tactfully, please) via timeline posts, direct messaging, and by inviting them to follow your business page.
  • Posting images, 3D images, or videos gets better reach than posting plain text. Because of this many marketers prefer to post an image/video and then deliver their link either in the comments or via direct messaging or chatbots.
  • The best way to make new friends from groups is to help people; answer questions and making posts that teach or inspire others. If you do this right, folks will already know and trust you by the time you send them a friend request.

Here are some things to bear in mind about affiliate marketing on Facebook:

  • Posting actual affiliate links can get you in trouble, so it’s best to use a URL shortener or a redirect. Many marketers use bit.ly for shortening their URLs, but I think Rebrandly is a better service with a more robust free plan.
  • A lot of newbies do this (and even more TRY to do it), so you really have to be careful about where you post and why. You could get reported and/or kicked out of groups if others think you’re trying to game the system rather than providing real value.
  • Facebook can be a finicky platform. Even if you follow all the rules, you could still end up getting your account banned. I personally don’t recommend relying on this strategy exclusively because it makes you dependant on Facebook as a platform.

You should take those points into consideration and do your own research before you start marketing in any way on Facebook, or anywhere else.

If organic Facebook marketing sounds as though it’s accessible of these affiliate marketing strategies and you want some help getting started, you’re in luck!

Strategy #2: Facebook Advertising
facebook advertising

Advertising on Facebook can be profitable for affiliate marketers, e-commerce owners, and just about anyone else with a Facebook-friendly product to sell. Instead, it’s best to send your audience to a bridge page or a landing page.

A bridge page is a simple web page that features any links you want people to click on. A landing page uses a lead capture form and then redirects the visitor either to the offer’s sales page or to a squeeze page / thank you page that advertises it.

There are two main challenges in Facebook advertising; getting your ads approved and getting them to convert. Getting ads approved is harder than you might think; even agencies full of experienced advertisers have to deal with underserved (and sometimes deserved) disapprovals and even ad account bans.

To increase your odds of success advertising on Facebook, follow these steps:

  1. Take a paid course with up-to-date lessons that covers how to run Facebook ads comprehensively. If it also focuses specifically on how to use them for affiliate marketing, so much the better.
  2. Study material on blogs, YouTube, and in Facebook groups related to running ads in your niche. You can avoid a ton of common mistakes just by paying attention to what other people do wrong, and by reading and understanding Facebook’s ad policies.
  3. Use a Facebook pixel to track visitors and set up your autoresponders/email marketing campaigns in advance so that you can retarget and/or create lookalike audiences. Be aware, some email platforms such as Mailchimp and Mailerlite frown on affiliate marketing; on the other hand you should be alright with Aweber or GetResponse.

The key to making money through Facebook ads is to focus on optimizing your sales funnel to the point where you’re breaking even on the front end, i.e. before you start emailing your leads. That way you can reinvest some of what you make on the back end in more ads, optimize them further, and scale.

Strategy #3: Search Engine Marketing (PPC)
search engine marketing ppc

If you’re selling an affiliate product that has heavy relevant search volume, search engine marketing can make a lot of sense for driving targeted traffic. SEM refers to ads placed above and around the organic results displayed by search engines. In most cases with SEM you will pay per click, hence the name PPC.

For running search ads, you have two main choices: Google ads and Microsoft ads (formerly known as Bing ads). Microsoft ads run on both Bing and Yahoo search engines. While these platforms have much less volume than Google, they’re also much less expensive and competitive.

If you choose your target keywords well, you can end up getting clicks for a fraction of the cost of equivalent Google ads.

Here are some simple actions you can take to improve your odds of success with SEM:

  1. Learn copywriting. Whether you take a course or read a dozen articles on the topic, you need to understand what type of text will actually make people click on your ad. Ad copy is always important, but it’s especially important in SEM because the user’s focus will be on the words from the start.
  2. Understand the platform you’re advertising on. This could mean taking a course or watching a dozen YouTube tutorials, but it should definitely include reading their terms and conditions.
  3. Split test 2-3 different ad copies, and then scale what works best and split test elements of the existing copy. You can be more aggressive if you like and/or do more testing, but that will potentially involve using up more time and money without guaranteeing a higher payout.

There’s more than one approach you can take with SEM. For example, if you’re promoting a funnel builder such as GrooveFunnels, you could target “GrooveFunnels review”, or you could target keywords such as “funnel building software,” or you could go broader and target something along the lines of “how to start an online business”.

Both Google and Microsoft ads have built-in keyword suggestion tools, and I highly recommend using them. Browsers often search on fairly odd combinations of words – keywords you would never think up on your own. The suggestion tools take the guesswork out of the game.

Google and Microsoft ads also both come with a ton of built-in training, and if you ever need to go one step further I recommend watching the latest YouTube tutorials and webinars.

Strategy #4: YouTube Video Marketing
youtube marketing

You don’t need a webinar if you can put your video content in front of an interested audience reliably. That’s what YouTube marketing is all about. As the second biggest search engine on the internet, YouTube is a powerful marketing channel for anyone who can create appealing content consistently and adopt best practices for SEO.

With folks spending more time on YouTube via both computers and mobile devices, optimizing for traditional search and voice search becomes a factor. Because of YouTube’s robust analytics, getting consistent watch time and social shares is also important.

That might all sound a bit complicated, but the bottom line is that you need to put helpful and interesting content on YouTube consistently in order to succeed there. If you want to build a presence on YouTube, start with the content and everything else will follow with time.

There are a ton of approaches you can take on YouTube, from doing reviews of affiliate products to creating partner videos for your blog posts to creating guided meditations. Like blog posts, YouTube videos are much more permanent than social media posts, and may continue getting you affiliate sales long after you post them.

Here are some pointers to get you started with video marketing on YouTube:

  • Install the VidIQ browser extension and use their free keyword research tool to find out how many internet users are searching for your target topics.
  • Include your main keyword for each video in the title, tags, and description. Make sure you say it verbally near the beginning of the video as well, assuming your video has speaking in it.
  • Use attractive thumbnails and promote your videos immediately after publishing; views within the first 24 hours seem to affect future organic reach.

If you like the idea of appearing on video, or even the idea of creating videos that you don’t appear in, YouTube marketing might be a great path towards affiliate income.

Affiliate Tube Webinar: You can get a ton of value for free just by watching this webinar put together by Paul and Mike Filsaime. Paul’s promotion of the GrooveFunnels affiliate program is what pulled me to it in the first place, and one of the elements that helped me build more affiliate marketing into my career.

Strategy #5: Authority Blogging
authority blogging

Authority blogging is the practice of creating blogs that gain a devout following and become easy to monetize as a result. Authority blogs can write a combination of product reviews, interest pieces, and educational articles in order to attract an audience that knows, likes, and trusts them.

Authority blogging is also a great way to build a responsive email list, because each blog post is a unique opportunity to offer a lead magnet. This form of marketing works wonders, but it can take a long time to make money by comparison to other methods, but every single strategy has its merits.

Working in content marketing has been a huge advantage for me as a blogger, because it gave me opportunities to see the blogging and digital marketing world from multiple perspectives.

While blogging can be seen as more reliable than other systems because it allows you to pick your platform, it also involves a broader skillset than the other options on this list. For example, making a fully mobile responsive blog is not always easy, and using Google Analytics feels to technical for some folks.

Note: An authority blog is not a review site or a coupon site. Review sites tend to focus exclusively on the products and as a result are much less likely to earn backlinks and dedicated followers.

If you are going to start a blog just to promote products, a review website may work for you. But if you hope to make money in a program such as amazon associates, you may need to do more than just recommend products in order to build website authority.

Authority Hacker Webinar: AuthorityHacker.com is one of the best go-to resources for SEO and content marketing news and knowledge. On this webinar, you can get some great free training and learn more about their system and courses.

Authority Hacker Sales Page: If you’re interested in The Authority Site System, you can grab it from this direct link to the sales page. We really can’t recommend this course highly enough if you want to learn SEO, content marketing, and authority blogging from the best.

Frase: Frase is hands down my favorite SEO tool; You can use it to speed up my research and outlining as well as to optimize my content for topical coverage, but it does more than that! If you’re already invested in SEO, getting a Frase account will help you take your skills to the next level.

SEMrush: SEMrush is one of the best SEO and marketing suites of tools available online. If you really want to dominate your competition in SEO, using SEMrush is a good move.

Strategy #6: Influencer Marketing
influencer marketing

Influencer marketing is the process of paying an influencer for some sort of shout-out, usually on one of their social media pages. This can potentially create a flood of temporary traffic to your target URL. This strategy can be a great addition to most of the other strategies outlined above.

If you have obscure products or only a few products to promote, an influencer can be a great tactic to get traffic to your website. You’ll get the best results here if you time the influencer’s shout out to your affiliate product well, and if your offer is something that will speak to their audience.

While influencer marketing can be extremely expensive at the higher levels, micro-influencers often charge little for shout-outs, and sometimes will even work with you in exchange for free products or services.

Even finding and connecting with influencers can be easy and painless if you use a platform like Intellifluence. Intellifluence is specifically designed to connect marketers with influencers, and there are plenty of similar services out there.

Strategy #7: Email Marketing
email marketing

Email marketing goes last on the list, not because it’s unimportant but because it’s an intrinsic part of all the other strategies. You should pretty much always be building your list.

Having a solid email list is one of the first things most prospective buyers will look at when considering buying a website/business, so if you’re considering getting into “flipping” blogs, understanding how to grow an email list quickly is in your best interest.

Advanced popup builders like ConvertBox make it easy to set when, why, and how your message appears on your site.

How to Make Money Online With Affiliate Software

Should you wonder about the most profitable affiliate programs, then look into the direction of software and web hosting providers. Here the commission may be up to 30% on each payment.

And in the software niche, the check size is obviously big. But surely, there’s a flip side to that coin. Being one of the most attractive, it is also one of the most competitive. Probably not for a total beginner.

Now, here’s how to make it happen.

Step 1: Choose the right affiliate software

Just like how if you’re going to do email marketing at scale, you’ll likely need to invest in some bulk email service, you need to pick the right affiliate software if you’re serious about running an affiliate program.

There’s just far too much going on for you to handle it all yourself (unless you’re only planning to work with one or two affiliates promoting a tiny number of products).

So the first step to launching your affiliate offering is to choose the affiliate software that underpins it.

There are lots of options in the market. But be aware that some of those products come with hidden costs that aren’t sustainable unless you’re running a massive affiliate operation (which, presumably, you currently aren’t). Meanwhile, others have a lot of obscure terms and conditions that make life unnecessarily confusing for you and your affiliates.

Post Affiliate Pro is different. You pay a set monthly fee, with a choice of three pricing plans varying by the level of functionality you need, all of which allow for unlimited affiliates. That’s a good thing because you don’t want the scale of your program to be dictated by your choice of affiliate software.

What’s more, Post Affiliate Pro is offering a 14-day free trial, plus there are no setup fees and no contracts, so you can cancel at any time.

Step 2: Define the types of affiliates you want to work with

You might think that when it comes to getting people to promote your products, the more partners you onboard, the better.

However, that’s not necessarily the case. So rather than simply casting the net as wide as possible, you need to ask yourself what a “good” affiliate partner will look like for your brand.

Let’s take a look at a solid example of a quality, generalist affiliate in the form of Forbes Personal Shopper:

How to make money online with affiliate software

It’s a shopping service for Forbes readers – people who already trust the brand. Forbes searches premium retailers to identify products its audience will love, whether that’s non-chafing running shorts, hybrid mattresses, or air purifiers.

Forbes is a quality, trusted site that understands what its readers want. Now, suppose your audience intersects with that of Forbes. In that case, you’ll likely see more success from your affiliate activity by recruiting it (plus a handful of similar partners) than dozens of lower-quality, less-relevant affiliates.

In short, brands should always prioritize working with affiliates that are a strong fit for their products. Those affiliates will send more relevant traffic your way, refer more sales, and drive higher average orders.

So what makes for a strong affiliate partner? While the specifics may vary from one niche to another, generally, they’ll have three qualities:

  1. A commitment to affiliate marketing. Many people start out as affiliates because they believe it’ll be a quick and easy way to earn passive income. But it just isn’t. A lot of successful affiliates spend a year or more building up a quality bank of content and generating traffic before they start making any money through affiliate marketing. If an affiliate isn’t in it for the long run, they’re not a good partner.
  2. A solid game plan. The online world moves fast. Sites become popular, attract a ton of traffic, then burn out and become irrelevant as marketing trends (and search engine algorithms) change. Affiliates need a strategy to keep themselves relevant over time rather than rely on a single tactic or traffic source that might not work a year down the line.
  3. A point of difference. There’s so much content on the internet. You need to carve out a niche as an affiliate – a reason for people to visit your site and keep coming back. It definitely can’t be based on “tricking” people into clicking through spammy tactics like bidding on misspelled brand names.

Defining what a “good” affiliate partner looks like should be an ongoing process. First, use the reporting tools built into your affiliate software to pick out your top affiliates. Then identify their shared characteristics – are they bloggers or social media influencers? Do they have a niche, highly qualified, and loyal audiences, or do they have broad, mass-market appeal? Finally, what are their influencer strategies, and how do they tie into promoting your brand/ company?

Optimize your approach around what’s already working.

Now that you know what makes a strong affiliate let us look at different industries and their ideal affiliate.

Being picky about whom they let into the affiliate program increases conversions and reduces overall maintenance costs for the program down the road.

Personal Injury Lawyers

A personal injury lawyer can bring in hundreds of new leads if they figure out how to properly select affiliates that will bring in the right traffic towards their site. A couple of good examples would be:

  • Law blogs like Simply Legal or LawRank would be the ideal affiliate partners for personal injury lawyers. Their blogs cater to an audience that is looking for lawyers or interested in hiring help in the legal department. Their blogs are authoritative and established, making it easy for them to drive a lot of traffic through affiliate links.
  • Customers can give you far more than just testimonials. Referrals are also an excellent for lawyers to make money and bring in more leads – but you need to give them something in return. Ask them if they want to be a referral for your law firm and explain what’s in it for them. Bear in mind that local referrals typically make the best affiliate for law firms in the same area.

Medical industry

If you are in the medical industry, bringing on affiliates gets a little trickier. Depending on how specific your product is, you will potentially need affiliates that have certificates to back their claims and referrals up.

You do not want your medical products being advertised or spoken about by any Tom, Dick, or Harry because that will lead to trust issues with your customers.

Instead, you could reach out to:

  • Clinics
  • Pharmacies
  • Doctors
  • Nurses
  • Medical journals
  • Happy customers
  • Nursing homes

If you reach out to medical blogs, make sure they are authoritative and trusted within the industry. Since the internet has made everyone a doctor, it is vital that you go through their affiliate marketing content and make sure the quality is upheld. You can then create a proposal, reach out to the right blogs and ask them if they want to be affiliates.

For example, Medical Alert Buyers Guide promotes various affiliate products on their site in the form of ‘best medical (keyword)’ posts. These posts are incredibly popular across the internet, and they are easy to insert links within. Take a look at their ‘best medical alert system’ as an example:

How to make money online with affiliate software

These posts help consumers figure out what the best product is to buy, and they serve as prime advertising real estate for medical companies that want to increase sales. That is because ‘best of’ posts enhance the customer intent when going through these types of posts is to purchase.

Other sites do this all the time as well. For example, each night, a mattress review company, makes most of its income as an affiliate for various mattress companies:

How to make money online with affiliate software

You should know which affiliates to partner with and where you want your links to appear. Companies that are more hands-on with their affiliates tend to see higher conversions because they ask their affiliates to include links in prominent locations.

Step 3: Analyze the market

Unless you’re in an extremely niche market, it’s unlikely that you’ll be the only similar brand with an affiliate program.

In fact, it’s almost impossible.

Before you get your program up and running, it pays to check out what your competitors are up to. That allows you to make smart decisions about things like the commissions you offer, the affiliate sites you target, and the terms of your commercial relationships.

For instance, let’s say you learn that one of your rivals pays a flat rate of $50 per desired action (whether that’s a sale or a lead). Their affiliate program has attracted a ton of attention, and their product seems to be promoted everywhere.

That gives you two choices:

  1. Compete with them directly by offering the same commission (or an even higher one). However, that might be difficult – or even impossible – based on factors like your retention rate, lifetime value, and acquisition cost. We’ll talk more about this in the next section.
  2. Compete on conversion rates rather than commissions. You might only offer a $25 payout compared to your rival’s $50 – but if you drive three times as many sales, your affiliates will be up on the deal.

There’s no right or wrong answer here. To understand what works best for you, pay close attention to the audit log and review the campaign, banner, and affiliate report in your affiliate software. If you’re running international campaigns, you can check your ROI based on the country as well. If sales or impressions are dropping, it could be time to switch up your approach.

Step 4: Calculate your commissions

Okay, now it’s time to go in-depth on the all-important subject of commissions.

That is arguably the most critical thing about your affiliate program. After all, affiliates aren’t doing this for fun – they’re in it to make money.

To calculate your commission rate, you need to take three metrics into account:

  1. Cost per acquisition
  2. Customer retention rate
  3. Customer lifetime value

These won’t tell you exactly how high your commission should be, but they allow you to make an informed decision. Generally speaking, the more you can afford to pay, the better – just ensure your final figure is in line with your lifetime value, retention, and commission rate.

Additionally, you need to decide how affiliates can earn those commissions. Affiliate software allows you to determine when commissions will be paid based on the type, such as:

  • Per action
  • Per click
  • Per lead
  • Per impression

With Post Affiliate Pro, paying your affiliates is easy as it allows you to set up unlimited payout options for the affiliates to choose from.

Step 5: Optimize your conversion rate

In section three, I pointed out that commission – while important – isn’t the only factor in attracting quality affiliates.

Your conversion rate needs to be spot on, too.

Remember, affiliates are working hard to bring in traffic and send it your way. They want to feel confident that when they do so, there’s a good chance those people will buy from you (and earn them a commission).

Again, your affiliate software can help. Focus on the conversion ratio in your trends report. If things are heading in the wrong direction, you need to figure out why.

Part of the puzzle lies in working with the right affiliates, which I’ve already discussed. They need to attract the right audience and describe your product in the right way.

But when those potential customers land on your site, they need to have a streamlined path to purchase. Your landing page should have a set of features and benefits of your product prominently displayed.

To answer any questions they might have about things like the ordering process, shipping, or returning policies, at lightning speed, you can integrate with live chat software. Inquiries might come from any part of the world, so try to implement multilingual support.

Step 6: Set clear, measurable objectives

No matter how brilliant your affiliate partners are or effective affiliate software is, you can’t afford to leave things to chance.

You need to make smart decisions to get the most from your affiliate strategy – and that means setting clear objectives against which you can measure performance. Of course, there’s no correct answer as to what those objectives should look like, but they’ll generally be along these lines:

  • Increase volume of sales by X% over the next year
  • Increase average order value by X% in the next quarter
  • Grow the number of active affiliates in the program by X% year on year
  • Hit $XXX in commission payouts in December 2021

Having defined your objectives, you can build out a strategy that gives you the best chance of achieving them. Then you can monitor performance through the tracking methods of your chosen affiliate software, helping you understand whether your approach is working well or needs a revision.

While there’s no such thing as the perfect affiliate marketing strategy, at a minimum, it’ll need to cover the following areas:

  • Choosing the right affiliate software
  • Recruiting the right affiliate partners
  • Setting your terms and conditions
  • Agreeing rules around PPC bidding
  • Deciding how sales are validated

For instance, many affiliate managers bar their affiliates from bidding on brand terms. Looking back at that hybrid mattress example from earlier, WinkBeds likely doesn’t want affiliates running paid search activity around its brand name because that’s not getting the brand in front of new audiences. So if WinkBeds allowed brand bidding, it’d end up paying for sales it could have got for free.

Affiliate Marketing in 2022: What it is And How Beginners Can Get Started

The affiliate marketing industry is growing steadily. Statista reported that spending on affiliate marketing only in the U.S. is expected to rise to $8.2 billion by 2022. Thus there is definitely a space to grow and earn.

Affiliate marketing is unique among internet marketing techniques because it operates as a distributed system. In other words, it spreads out the responsibility of making impressions and promoting products or services to third parties. In exchange, the vendor shares the proceeds of the sale with the affiliate marketer.

In a typical affiliate marketing scenario, there are three parties at play, and each of their roles must be understood to conjure a clear picture of the technique.

• The creator: Otherwise known as the vendor, the creator is a business or brand that offers a product or service and shares revenues with affiliates.

• The affiliate: The affiliate, or publisher, is a business entity or individual who advertises the creator’s product or service and receives a share of each sale that they help generate.

• The consumer: The consumer is the customer of the creator, who buys their product or service via an affiliate marketing channel.

Affiliates aren’t always upfront about the relationship they share with the vendor. In many jurisdictions, there are no rules or regulations binding affiliates to disclose their affiliate relationship with the seller.

Products or services purchased via affiliate marketing typically cost no more to the consumer than they otherwise would by any other channel; rather, the sales commission is baked into the retail price of the good or service.

Getting Started With Affiliate Marketing

Are you an up-and-coming influencer or content creator with a growing audience? Or, perhaps you’re a lifestyle brand, e-commerce store or small business looking to reach a new market and drive more sales. Either way, affiliate marketing is a safe bet for 2022. Here’s how to get started.

• Content creators: To get the ball rolling, sign up for an affiliate program. Fortunately, there are very few barriers to entry when it comes to affiliate marketing. Some of the most popular affiliate marketing programs in operation today, and poised to grow through 2020, include Rakuten Marketing, Affiliate Window, ShareASale, MaxBounty and Amazon Associates Program.

• Vendors: If you have a product or service finalized and ready for sale, you can start finding affiliates to promote your product. Affiliate networks can hasten the process by putting you in contact with content creators and influencers in your niche. The eBay Partner Network and the Amazon Associates Program are two can’t-lose places to start, in addition to being trusted affiliate networks and agencies.

Both vendors and content creators stand to gain from the distributed networking power of affiliate marketing. No matter which side you’re on — vendor or content creator — there’s a bright future for affiliate marketing in the years ahead.

By working with a seller, affiliate marketers can gain a passive, yet highly lucrative, income stream. On the other hand, vendors can take advantage of the rising influence of content creators to access new markets and audiences with little to no effort required on their part. In 2022, affiliate marketing is a clear win-win situation.

5 Tips to Get Started With Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is pretty simple and can be very successful if you start in the right way. So based on our experience with thousands of publishers, this post is here to help beginners get started and monetize their content.

1. Start with what you do best

The publishers that best monetize their content make millions. But that didn’t happen overnight and the publishers didn’t start by trying to write about every product under the sun. Instead, the best way to get started is to write about specific products that you know about.

Think about your editorial content, the topics and trends you already write about, and how you can find products that are relevant for those. If you believe in the products you write about and they’re connected to editorial content you already create it will make it far easier to monetize.

Once you’ve established the core products you want to write about, began producing content, and started to make money from it, then you can start thinking about an expansion plan for the things you want to write about.

2. Write Valuable Content

The name of the game online today is adding value to people’s lives. Add value and they’ll come back for more time and time again. So when you think about affiliate marketing and how you can monetize that content, that means making sure any content you create is quality and can add value to your readers’ lives.

To start, work out what makes your content different. You need to know what your unique selling point for readers’ is and why they would come to your content over anyone else’s. Look at your engagement statistics, understand the content that is read more than others, and start to repeat that format.

Then you can turn it into commerce content. In the first place it needs to be quality content and second of all, to make it commerce content, you have to engineer the content so that you help people start a purchase journey.

So whenever you mention a product or a brand, add outbound links to where people can find them. Language is important too, the difference in conversions between the phrases “click here” and “buy here” is 60% in the latter’s favor. You can also compare prices adding in similar products at a range of price points, to cater for readers of all budgets.

Essentially your content’s value needs to be twofold: valuable content that educates people about the considered purchases they’re making and valuable content, in the sense of making a purchase as a result of reading the article really straightforward.

3. Share The Content Everywhere

When you start with content it is really important to think about SEO and how you can make your commerce content rank well in search engine results. 40% of large publishers’ revenue on Skimlinks comes from articles that are more than 60 days old.

When you start our producing very specific content, you can use very specific keywords, which is exactly what search engines look for when they’re deciding how prominently to rank content in search results. Theme posts around these special keywords and you should see your organic traffic begin to pick up as your most become indexed, and people discover them.

You can go beyond SEO too.

Some of the most successful content in our network is repurposed for email, social media, and other channels to enable publishers to share their expertise as widely as possible.

If you’re an expert in your area, it only makes sense people will want to discover your content, get advice on purchases they’re making and act upon them in a channel of their choice. So think about how you can generate interest in your content from other avenues than search alone.

4. Keep trust front of mind

Trust is key to affiliate success.

Readers need to trust you’re making genuine recommendations about what they should buy and are savvy enough to tell when you’ve sold them up the river.

So when you write commerce content keep a few things in mind:

  • Think about whether you would genuinely buy the item
  • Consider if you like the brand and its products
  • And in an ideal world, make sure you’ve tested the product and know it’ll be perfect for what your readers are looking for

When you believe in a product or brand readers’ can tell because your enthusiasm will be palpable in your writing. The better the quality of your recommendations, the sooner readers will come to trust you as a place to learn about products they want to buy, and begin buying based on your recommendations.

5. Become data-driven

Once you’ve started using affiliate marketing to make money, you’ll start to generate data that you can use to inform your affiliate strategy and help you make more money.

As mentioned merchants will pay publishers a certain commission when they’re directly responsible for driving a sale. So when you look for merchants to write about, or products you want to review, keep in mind what commission rate they pay.

The better the rate, the more money you’ll make if you drive a sale. If you can combine a high commission rate with a product you believe in you’ll have struck gold.

It’s also good to think about conversion rates too. A merchant may offer a high commission rate, but if they have a low conversion rate, it means people rarely buy their products and that reduces your chance of making a sale.

comission junction affiliate

But to truly know if it will work for you, you’ll have to sign up first. And just like with other programs, that’s a relatively simple process that can start on the homepage.

Facebook Affiliate Program Make Money

Share Things On Your Personal Page

This is obviously the easiest way to start affiliate marketing on Facebook, but also the least effective. Yes, you’ll have a group of people who know you, trust you, and who will see your posts, but they may not want to constantly feel like you’re selling to them.

The solution: don’t sell. Or rather, do it, but in a way that doesn’t feel overly promotional or sales-focused. Try out writing different types of updates and see what sticks and what doesn’t. Examine the wording you use, the links you post, and what types of posts get the most interaction. This is a great way to try out Facebook affiliate marketing before you try the next more professional suggestion.

Create A Facebook Group

Just like you might consider making a website where you post information with affiliate links, you can also do this directly on Facebook. Then anyone who clicks on your links and/or makes purchases will result in you getting a commission.

The first step to creating a successful group is choosing your niche. If you’re going to put in the effort into well-made posts, you want to make sure they will resonate with your ideal client. Know the demographics of the people you’re targeting so that you can promote the right kinds of products and services to them.

A Facebook group can start with just a few of your friends and grow from there. Your friends will already trust you and your opinion, and their likes and shares will get you more attention and will help you reach others. Don’t only post products that you receive a commission from—this usually comes off as scammy.

Instead, try to provide useful products and posts, even if not all of them are affiliate links. When people go to your group page and see that you promote a variety of different things, they’ll then put more trust in your opinion and view you as more honest.

Create A Page

If you’ve already got a blog set up, then you should definitely create a Facebook page for it. This is a wonderful way to promote your blog posts, affiliate links, and other relevant information in a fun way.

Your page could operate very similarly to a group, although there is slightly less interaction with a page. Groups, by their very nature, encourage interaction. Pages are more to keep your audience updated and to keep them abreast of your latest content. Groups can sometimes feel a little overwhelming to manage, and pages are more straightforward.

If you can continue to post useful content for your audience, then you’ll be able to get them equally engaged—ask questions, share videos, and, of course, link to your affiliate link posts or directly to certain products and services.

Facebook Ads

Done correctly and well, Facebook ads can really have an impact on your visibility online as well as increasing your sales. Facebook does have strict guidelines as to what your ad can look like, and it often requires submitting an ad placement request more than once. Tenacity is key, and it can literally pay off.

Your ads can promote certain products and affiliate links if you’d like, but they’re also powerful when used in conjunction with a blog. The choice is yours, but one thing is for sure: images are key. Test out images so you can find the best one for your ad.

Remember that humans are visual creatures, and Facebook can sometimes overwhelm people, so keeping your images eye-catching and engaging will result in more sales.

How Much a Beginner Affiliate Marketers Earn?

Recently STM forum conducted a poll where they asked about affiliates’ annual income. And you can see the results in the chart below:

How Much Can You Earn in Affiliate Marketing in 2021?

Broadly speaking, this chart must give you a vision that income in affiliate marketing can vary a lot. You can see there are plenty of bloggers and affiliate marketers out there who earn less than $20.000 ($1.600 per month). But then there are also those who make tons of money.

According to their monthly income, we can divide affiliates into:
  • Total beginners, who are only losing money at the moment;
  • Low-level affiliates, who earn up to $300/day;
  • Intermediate affiliates, who earn from $300/day up to $3,000/day;
  • High-level affiliates, who earn above $3,000/day;
  • Super affiliates or, as you can often find them being called, “gurus of affiliate marketing,” who make more than $10,000/day.

Success in affiliate marketing is about persistence and continuing nature. You can’t assume that your profit will always be the same if you once earned 300$ per day.

In Affiliate marketing, there are plenty of cases when, after earning somewhat a very modest income for a long time, people skyrocketed overnight. It is all about choosing the right niche and the right strategy. And there are plenty of opposite cases when affiliate marketers went from high incomes to sod.

  • Step 1: Create a Website or A Blog

  • Step 3: Research Products in Your Niche that You Can Review
  • Step 4: Sign Up for the Amazon Affiliate Program
  • Step 5: Find affiliate programs for the other products you want to review
  • Step 6: Create content in the form of tutorials, review posts, resource pages or emails and use your affiliate link
  • Step 7: Optimize the page and track your rankings in Google
  • Step 8: Rinse and Repeat!

How to Start Affiliate Marketing With no Money

We want to start by saying that having a blog and website should be your ultimate goal as an affiliate marketer. It is hands down, the best way to run a successful affiliate marketing business.

However, when you’re new to the business and you’re on a shoestring budget (or have no budget at all) there are a few things you can do to start generating the income you’ll need to eventually start your website and blog.

Create a Social Media Presence

Being an affiliate doesn’t mean you have to become a blogger right away. Instead, you can begin monetizing your online presence through social media. You can do this by placing affiliate links within your posts, updates, and profiles.

Social media platforms like Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, and so on are packed with millions of users. You can easily integrate links into your posts and see results. Just make sure that you follow the rules and restrictions of these sites, as you technically don’t own your accounts.

Leverage Facebook

A lot of people, in fact, billions of people, are on Facebook these days, which makes it the largest social media platform. If you have an account, you can promote affiliate products on your page.

The important thing is to focus your page on a subject of interest to your audience. It could be health, money, fitness, relationships, or pretty much anything else folks are interested in learning about.

Leverage YouTube

Have you ever considered starting a YouTube channel? If not, then this is the best time to do it. YouTube is an incredibly effective platform for affiliate marketing and has millions of users.

The most successful YouTubers are earning millions each year just by making videos promoting products they enjoy. This is perhaps one of the best ways to become an affiliate without investing in a blog and website.

Just know that you probably won’t have very many subscribers in your first few months. But if you keep posting interesting and useful videos, you’ll eventually build the audience you need to succeed.

Join an Affiliate Program

Once you’ve established your following on social media or YouTube, you can begin to apply for affiliate network programs like ShareASale and Rakuten. These programs are constantly seeking publishers who can promote well.

However, to join these programs, you’ll need to qualify, and that usually means having a solid online presence and following. So it’s important that you have quality content to be considered a good source.

Top 12 Affiliate Marketing Strategies That Will Boost Your Business in 2022

1. Improved affiliate reporting and attribution

Many affiliate programs run with last-click allocation, where the affiliate gets 100 percent conversion credit before the last click is sold. That’s altered. You can see a complete cross-channel view of how individual marketing tactics work together with affiliate platforms that provide new assignment models and reporting features.

For instance, you could see the first click was made on a paid social camp, Affiliate X click 2 and Affiliate Y clicked last. With this full picture, you are able to structure your affiliate commissions in order to get Affiliate X a percentage of sales credit, even if the last click has not been taken.

2. Influencer niches are becoming hyper-targeted

Large affiliates have been the cornerstone in the past, with hundreds or thousands of advertisers receiving all-in-one coupons and media sites.

This is no longer the case. With long tail keywords, influencers can leverage their hyper focused niche for affiliate marketing success in their search for specific products and services. Individuals cannot send huge quantities of traffic to advertisers, but the public they send is creditworthy, targeted and conversion rates are higher.

3. Search engine marketing

When you sell an affiliate product with a high search capacity, marketing search engines can be useful to drive targeted traffic. SEM refers to ads above and around organic search engine results. In the majority of cases, you pay by click for SEM, which is the name of the PPC.

Search engine marketing

You have two major options for running search ads: Google ads and Microsoft ads. Both Bing and Yahoo search engines have Microsoft ads running. Though these platforms are much less expensive and competitive than Google. You can end up getting clicks on a fraction of the Google Ads equivalent cost if you choose your target keywords well.

4. Youtube video affiliate marketing strategy

If you can reliably place your video content before an interested audience, you do not need a webinar. It’s all about YouTube marketing. As the second-largest Internet search engine, YouTube is a powerful affiliate marketing strategy for beginners who can consistently create attractive content and use best practices for SEO.

With people using both computers and mobile devices, it’s a factor to optimize traditional voice search. Consistent monitoring time and social shares are also important, because of YouTube’s robust analysis.

That could all be a bit complicated, but ultimately, to be successful, you have to consistently place useful and interesting information on YouTube. Start with content and everything else will follow with time if you want to build your presence on YouTube.

There are lots of ways you can use YouTube from reviewing affiliate products, creating partner videos to creating guided meditations on your blog posts. YouTube videos, like blog posts, are far more permanent than social media posts and may be able to keep you sales of affiliates long after you post them.

Youtube video affiliate marketing strategy
5. Authority blogging

Blog affiliate marketing strategy is the practice of creating blogs that are followed with devotion and thus easy to monetise. Blogs of authority may write a combination of reviews of products and pieces of interest as well as educational articles to attract a public who knows, loves and trusts them.

Blogging authority is also an excellent way of creating a responsive email list because every blog posting provides a unique opportunity to provide a lead magnet. This form of marketing works wonderful things, but making money compared to other methods can take a long time, but each strategy has its worth.

While blogging can be seen as a more reliable way to choose your platform than other systems, it also contains more skills than the other options in this list. For example, it’s not always easy to make a fully mobile reactive blog and some people feel technical with Google Analytics.

6. Influencer marketing

Influencer marketing is the process of shouting a person, usually on one of its social media pages. This may create a temporary traffic flood to your destination URL. This affiliate marketing strategy can add greatly to most of the above-mentioned strategies.

If you have dark products or just a few products to promote, a person who has an influence on your website is a great tactic. If you have time to shout the influencer well at your company product, and if your offer is something that speaks to your audience, you will achieve the best results.

While influencer marketing at the higher levels can be extremely expensive, micro-influencers often charge little for screaming outs, and even work with you sometimes for free products or services.

It can even be easy and painless to connect to influencers using a platform such as Intellifluence. Intellifluence is designed specifically to connect marketers with influencers, and a number of similar services are available there.

7. Long-tail keywords and voice search

Affiliate marketers probably don’t rely on voice search for their subject (or perhaps do they?

In the comments, write down!) But when it comes to your everyday questions, many people do.

The exact long sentence that people are searching for is much harder to get and advertise.

However, the conversion rates are incredibly high when you successfully address this phrase.

Long-tail keywords were always one of the tips provided by experienced affiliates for newbies. The increased searching of the voice only increases its importance. This is one of the top affiliate marketing strategies recently.

Long-tail keywords and voice search
8. Flexible advertising

The general dynamic situation requires more flexibility for advertisers. While products and niches will always be always green, the hottest offers are products we do not know about. Recall when people started to buy PPE or new laptops or web cameras later?

Anyone who was sufficiently fast to pay for the trend is a future advertiser’s model. The future advertiser won’t bind to one brand or type of product. Rather, it focuses on a reliable supply chain, so that new content can be created in the short term and any trend that is profitable can spot and jump.

9. The new evergreens

The pandemic was a huge stress test of the utopia we all promised for remote work and life. And surprisingly the test has been somewhat better than ‘disaster,’ more than any other utopia we can say.

The Zoom or Skype business or family meetings. Every product category, from food to cars and houses, has moved to online shopping. What the pandemic shows us is that the world needs a whole new product category:

  • Streaming services for video and games
  • Hosting of the Internet
  • Shopify or Magento platforms
10. Webinar presentation

76% of buyers used webinars for research acquisition decisions for the B2B industry in the last 12 months. This means that a webinar may be a great place to educate and train your audience before you finish a product for an affiliate marketing strategy.

Although webinars are a great way of educating and connecting a profound audience, they cannot be an ideal strategy to stand alone for a company. When you already have an email list and sell high-ticket products, we would recommend that you do only webinars. Because the first way to get email registrants is to have an email list, compared to ads for the webinar.

11. Banner advertising

This is one of the easiest ways to promote products of membership. Most companies that you’re a member of will be able to advertise banner ads. Just get the code you need for the banner and then enter it on your website.

You will be credited for the referral when someone clicks on the ad and purchases. Also, you don’t just place them on your site. On other ad networks such as AdRoll, you can directly advertise your affiliate banners.

A fast word of banner warning that you do not have them all around if you put them on your own website. It will spam your website and will affect how quickly your website loads.

banner advertising marketing
12. Podcasting

Over the years, podcasting has increased rapidly. It’s beneficial to have your own website if podcasting is the way to you too. You can also get a “main hub” from your own website. Podcast episodes can also be integrated across your site. Additionally, you can make affiliate links on your site in terms of content and then direct your audience from podcast episodes to that content.

And if you want to make your podcast content even better, please send audio to Rev. The audio will be transcribed and the text will be returned, which can then be used as a blog post, eBook, or PDF. However, it is not easy to apply this affiliate marketing strategy without any knowledge about podcasting.

Affiliate Marketing Average Income

The average yearly income an affiliate marketer makes is $154,700. With only 5.98% of them earning over 2 million a year and with over 43% earning less than 40k a year, the average income is inflated. This is because the few that make millions make up for the thrones that don’t earn over 20k.

How Fast Can You Make Money With Affiliate Marketing?

Getting to the point where you earn consistently from affiliate programs might take a while, so you probably should not quit your job from the very start. Usually, it takes from 6 months to several years to start making profits with affiliate marketing.

More precise timing and your overall success depend on your ability to create quality content, optimize for SEO, drive traffic, and promote your affiliate products. Don’t forget about the active usage of social media and email marketing. You will not skyrocket overnight. But by being consistent in the promotion of affiliate products, having the right marketing strategy will bring you to your desired income.

What to do Before Becoming an Affiliate Marketer

Affiliate marketing is one of the most popular ways to build a full-time income stream online because it is so simple and easy to get started. However, if you are contemplating becoming an affiliate marketer, there are some important things you should know before you jump into it.

Let’s begin with the basics…

1. What is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate marketing is an arrangement between a company and an influencer where the influencer gets a commission for referring sales or website traffic to the company.

An influencer is just someone who has an audience that knows, likes and trusts them.

For example, let’s say you really like the shaving cream you use. In fact, it’s such an amazing shaving cream, that you want to tell your friends about it.

You look on their website, ShavingCream.com (I’m just making this up, by the way), and you notice that they have an affiliate program. You apply to join it. They approve your application, and give you a unique referral URL (e.g. ShavingCream.com/myspecialcode).

You write a blog post all about shaving creams, and why you love your shaving cream the best. In the post, you include a link using your unique referral URL.

People start reading your blog post and clicking on your link. Some of them decide to buy the shaving cream after clicking through to ShavingCream.com from your link. You receive 30% commission from that transaction.

That’s what affiliate marketing is.

2. Who is an Affiliate Marketer?

An affiliate marketer is an influencer who shares products and companies that they enjoy with their audience in exchange for a commission when someone buys.

The commission is usually a percentage of every product that is bought. For example, if the seller offers a 30% commission on each product, then the affiliate marketer should be earning this percentage per sale generated. So, $3 per $10, $30 per $100, etc.

Affiliate marketers do not work for a company. They are completely independent, and may choose to work with whatever companies they wish.

3. How Affiliate Marketing Works

So why and how does affiliate marketing work, exactly?

Well, businesses of course want to make more revenue, grow and dominate the market. For this to happen, they have to work hard to attract more customers.

One way they do this is by partnering with influencers (affiliates) who will promote the business to their followers, thereby making more customers and sales.

But why wouldn’t companies just pay for advertising?

The reason affiliate marketing works so well–even better than ads–is because consumers are far more likely to purchase based on the recommendation from someone they know, like, and trust than based on an ad from a faceless business they have never heard of before.

That’s why influencer marketing is far more powerful than advertisements.

So if you are going to become an affiliate marketer, you need to become an influencer. You need to grow an audience of people who know, like, and trust you. That’s how the affiliate marketing system works.

4. The 4 Parties and Their Roles

There are four parties involved in this affiliate marketing system who play distinct roles. They are 1) the merchant, 2) the affiliate, 3) the consumer and 4) the affiliate network.

The merchant is also known as the seller or the business that sells products or provides services. This could be an individual or the entire business body. The merchant has the responsibility to supply the marketable products or services and provides the strategies to promote their offers.

The affiliate or affiliate marketer is the person (you!) who implements the available strategies to promote the merchant’s products and services and gets a commission per generated sale. They are generally webmasters or bloggers. They use links, banners, ads and other marketing tools to promote merchant products on their own websites.

The consumer refers to all individual customers who click on or follow the marketing elements put in place to buy a product from the merchant. This will apply to your audience who may be interested in these offers.

The affiliate network is a digital platform that the merchant and the affiliate use to manage referral link clicks, purchases, and payouts. As an intermediary body, the network is automated to track the affiliate’s clicks and sales, and calculates payments due from the merchant.

5. How to Succeed as an Affiliate Marketer

To become a successful affiliate marketer you need to know a number of things that will not only boost your earnings but will make you stand out in the mind of your customers, and the merchant as well.

Choose the Right Products

First you’ll need to choose the right products or services that will be in great demand by your audience. This determines the rate of your success or failure. Remember the know, like and trust factor? To get your audience to TRUST you, you should only recommend products that you yourself have personally used and vetted.

Get Online

Having a blog and social media presence is what will make you KNOWN to your audience. By sharing more and more online, you’ll also get your audience to LIKE you. Write engaging articles or reviews on a regular basis about your affiliate products, and always remember to share why you personally approve of the product.

Be 100% Honest

Provide the most accurate information about the products you promote. Never exaggerate to quickly make a sale. Your audience will see through it and they will turn their backs on you. Instead, if the product you are promoting isn’t perfect, say so! It never hurts to explain the downsides to a product because this just proves to your audience that you are being completely honest with them.

Also–this is very important–be transparent about your relationship with the merchant! It is legally required that you disclose your affiliate relationship, so any time you share an affiliate link you need to let your audience know.

 Communicate with Your Audience

Add a contact page where your visitors can easily get in touch with you if they have any questions. Interact with your audience in the comments section of your blog or your social media posts. the more you communicate with your audience, the more they will come to know, like, and trust you, and you’ll be able to make more sales!

6. How to Promote Affiliate Links

Smart affiliate marketers are always looking out for unique opportunities to promote their affiliate links and maximize their earnings. Here are some ideas for you…

Review Posts

Write a engaging reviews about the products you promote. Study each product carefully before you promote it so you can provide honest information and think about exactly what your audience needs. Never pressure them to buy the products, but include your affiliate link several times in your review so that they have a few chances to click through.

Email Marketing

Always be thinking about how you can get your audience to join your email list. This way, you can reach them at a later date by email anytime you have a new review or a product is having a sale or a special promotion.

Social Media

Social platforms are great opportunities to reach more of your ideal audience. Visual platforms are especially great for promoting affiliate products, like YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, etc., because you can really show your audience how the product works.

7. Pros and Cons of Affiliate Marketing

Now let’s be perfectly honest and say that not everything about affiliate marketing is great. You need to be aware of both the pros AND the cons before you decide that affiliate marketing is right for you.

Pros of Affiliate Marketing

  • Affiliate marketing is free and easy to join: Most affiliate programs are free to join and no experience is required in most cases. You only need to fill a signup form and begin to promote the offers. Just join, promote and earn.
  • Multiple income channels: It is good to know that there are no restrictions to the number of affiliate programs you can join. Joining multiple programs mean you will be earning from multiple sources. Hence, an opportunity to make more money.
  • Easy management: All marketing tools and affiliate links are provided by the merchant. You never have to bother creating banners, links and all that. You only have to use what has been provided by the merchant. Also, you do not have to handle orders, ship any inventory, or deal with the customer. The merchant handles all that, so you are only focused on promoting the offers to your audience.
  • No financial risks: The business you promote belongs to someone else. In most cases you do not have to invest a dime in the merchant’s business. So you run no risk of losing your money.

Cons of Affiliate Marketing

  • High level of competition: Affiliate marketing has become the most popular online marketing system due to its profit margins. This has attracted entrepreneurs to create many new such businesses online. Because of this, there is great competition as everyone fights to get the attention of consumers. This has made it difficult for new businesses to grow.
  • Dependency: This is the biggest con, so pay attention! Affiliate marketers depend on the merchant to make their money. If there were no merchants or affiliate programs, the possibility of being an affiliate marketer would not exist. It even becomes more frustrating if for one reason or the other a merchant suddenly stops running the business or their affiliate program. This can potentially deprive the affiliate marketer of his one-time steady source of income.

SO, to combat this, never put all your eggs in one basket by relying on a single affiliate program for your revenue source! Instead, become an affiliate for multiple different businesses, or even create your own products to sell (like online courses) in addition to the affiliate products you promote.

8. Best Affiliate Networks to Join and Promote

There are so many of affiliate networks on the internet. When choosing to join any of these networks, there are a few things to consider.

  • Legitimacy: To avoid being scammed make research on each program you are about to join to check legitimacy.
  • The niche: Choose programs or categories whose products or services that have a high demand and that you are passionate about.
  • The commission rate: If you want to earn more, then look out for programs that offer high commissions. In such a case you still make good money even if you generate just a few sales.
  • Payment methods: Not all affiliate programs use the same methods to pay out. Before joining, first check that the payment methods provided are available in your country. You don’t want to miss your money!
  • Limitations: Some programs are limited to specific countries, so you may want to check this as well before you join.

Below are three recommended global affiliate programs that you can join today and start earning…

ClickBank is a web marketplace where merchants all over the world place digital products to be promoted by affiliate marketers. They accept affiliates from all parts of the world and offer high commissions. Payment methods are PayPal, check and direct deposit (for U.S residents).

Amazon deals with both digital and physical products, and has a very good affiliate marketing plan with high commissions. They pay via direct deposit, check, PayPal and Amazon gift cards.

Their technology has received accolades for speed, efficiency and accuracy and they have a reputation as a well-known, honest business within the industry with over 3,900 merchants. Can You Become a Millionaire From Affiliate Marketing?

People have done it and people continue to do it, so it must be possible to become a millionaire through affiliate marketing. The real question, however, is whether it is an easy process or not. The answer is, as you might have guessed, no.

Put bluntly, if you want to make big money through affiliate marketing (e.g. $500,000 per year like Super Affiliate author Rosalind Gardner), you will have to work hard. Hard work alone won’t cut it though. You need to either be educated in SEO and web design or you need to be smart enough, and simultaneously humble enough, to learn from mistakes and make the most of them.

If you want to make real money with affiliate marketing, then set aside the idea that it is a get-rich-quick scheme. Affiliate marketing will only lead to immediate riches if you cheat and that, eventually, can lead to fines or jail time. If you want to make money at affiliate marketing and sustain that income over the years, then you have to do it right and that takes time.

How Can You Succeed in Affiliate Marketing?

Want to really become a success with affiliate marketing? Here are some of our best tips to help you succeed in earning a passive monthly income.

1. Choose the Right Products

Avoid the temptation to be an affiliate for absolutely everything. Instead focus on promoting products that you know and love, and that are important to your audience. The more relevant your products are, the more likely it is that visitors to your site will click those links and earn you some passive income.

2. Provide Useful Information

The hard sell doesn’t work any more. Most people want reliable information that helps them learn more about products and services so they can make their own minds up. Many of the most successful affiliates provide product reviews, guides and comparisons which help their audience and build trust.

3. Optimize Your Content

Once you’ve written content, make sure it’s optimized so that people can find it in search engines. Searches for product reviews continue to increase. If your affiliate marketing shows up for those searches, it makes it more likely you’ll earn a commission.

4. Use Video for Promotion

Online buyers are looking for authentic information; in fact, 55% of people even use video when purchasing in-store. A video showing you using or reviewing a product delivers. Consider using video as one of your affiliate marketing promotion methods.

5. Experiment to Boost Conversions

Getting traffic to your affiliate income blog is just the first hurdle. The next step is getting visitors to click. One way to improve your chances is to experiment with your headlines and calls to action. One way to do this is by using Taboola’s Title Analyzer to check the likely CTR of your headline.

You can also look at trends for images and videos to see what’s likely to appeal to your audience most. For example, if you’re promoting tech in the United States, images without people have a 26% higher CTR than those with people.

Top 10 Affiliate Marketing Websites

Every day, thousands of publishers benefit from a recurring cash inflow by partnering up with other companies via affiliate programs.

Affiliate marketing is one of the best ways to monetize your blog, especially when you don’t sell products or services. Joining an affiliate program can get you exclusive access to new content and special deals for your audience — all while earning you more money.

To further understand affiliate programs, let’s consider an example — Wirecutter.com, a New York Times company, is a website that lists product recommendations for shoppers. Wirecutter largely earns commission based on affiliate relationships with retailers.

Wirecutter’s affiliate monetization model might make you doubt the legitimacy of Wirecutter’s recommendations — but, in fact, it’s quite the opposite. Wirecutter only makes commission when a reader purchases a product from an affiliate retailer and doesn’t return the product. Wirecutter, then, has no incentive to promote inferior products — if they did, they’d make less money and turn away readers.

Below are the 10 affiliate programs that pay the highest commission.

  1. HubSpot
  2. Elementor
  3. AWeber
  4. Sendinblue
  5. ConvertKit
  6. Leadpages
  7. GetResponse
  8. SEMRush
  9. Fiverr
  10. Pabbly
Bottom Line

Ultimately, when deciding which program to choose, there are many key elements to keep in mind, including how established your online following is, and how much you want to earn.

And, most importantly — who is your audience, and what are they interested in?

Think about what your website visitors or your social media followers need and could benefit from, and choose an affiliate marketing program that will let you promote products in support of that.

You might also want to consider affiliate networks like LinkShare or CJ Affiliate that offer many different programs to choose from. There are no limits to the number of affiliate programs you can join.
