Flushing the latrine makes up 38% of the normal US families water utilization

It is true that in the United States toilet flushing alone consumes the maximum water usage in an average home. A study done in 2016 shows that the average people of American flush the toilet five times per day. If this is rounded up to the total number, it counts to 38% of their daily water usage. Since it alone utilizes so much quantity of water, it requires the most attention for water conservation. It is best to have a low flush toilet. There is another fact connected to it. That is up to 18,000 gallons of water can be saved every year if we move on to using a low flush toilet. This implies that 18,000 gallons of water are wasted every year. It just goes down the sewer pipes.

To conserve water the US federal law has mandated that toilets have to be manufactured in such a way that they do not consume more than 1.6 gallons of water per flush. The oldest of all toilets used more than 8 gallons of water per flush. It was later on improved and the toilets started using 5 to 7 gallons of water per flush. These toilets were improved in the early 1980s, which started using 3.5 gallons of water per flush.

Three years of our lives are spent on the toilet

On average, it has been found that a person throughout his life spends three years on the toilet, and for pooping a person spends 240 days in the toilet. This number of days is calculated based on some data assumptions. To estimate this time that we spend on the toilet throughout our lives on average we have assumed that a person takes 12 minutes to poop once a day. Taking this time as the base, it will come to 4380 minutes per year or 73 hours each year. If we assume the life expectancy is 79 years on average we will get 5767 hours. This means that a 79-year-old person has spent 5767 hours or 240 days in the toilet for pooping. However, this data will vary from person to person as there may come days in your life when you have to visit the washroom more than once for stomach upset.

The plumbing and Laguna Niguel Plumbing industry has such an impressive fact that the renowned Nobel Prize winner Albert Einstein commented once in November 1954 that if he had the chance to do everything all from the beginning he would be a plumber in search of independence that is still available in this industry at the current circumstances. He would not have tried to become a scholar, teacher, or scientist. This means that at any point in time he did consider trading all his fortune and fame for the plumbing industry. All the plumbers around the United States responded to his remarks. He was offered membership in the Chicago plumbers union. A New York plumber called Stanley Murray wrote to him suggesting joining hands as his wish has always been to be a scholar whereas Einstein being a scholar himself has shown interest in the plumbing industry.

Multiple names for the single purpose

There are various names by which people call a toilet. The people of the North of England and in Scotland called the toilet by the name ‘privy’. This word means House of privacy. The two brothers are projected as Italian American plumbers, whose task is to beat the creatures creeping out of the sewers. These can be turtles, crabs, and other animals living under the sewer system.

The inventor

The first flush toilet was invented in 1596. It was Sir John Harrington who created the stuff. A flush valve was used to release the water from a tank. However, it did not receive any popularity, rather Sir Harrington became a laughing matter for most of the people. Later on, Thomas Crapper up lumbered and introduced a siphon system replacing the old floating valve in the 1880s. Thomas Crapper became successful in advertising the product to the people. It was more user-friendly therefore accepted by the masses.
