Top 70 Ways To Earn Extra Cash Online. The No. 1 rule of personal finance is to spend less than you earn. So if you want to get ahead financially, it’s important to save money where you can.
But if you really want to improve your finances, there’s the flip side of that equation to consider as well – making more money.
Earn Extra Cash Online
Here’s the truth no one wants to talk about: Learning how to make money can improve your finances in ways that saving money simply cannot. There are only so many ways to save, but there are an unlimited number of ways to earn extra money you can use to pay down debt, save for the future, or actually have some fun.

1. Watch YouTube-Like Videos

The folks over at InboxDollars will actually pay you to watch videos!
Now, most of them aren’t as entertaining as the Grumpy Cat series, but you’re getting paid — so who cares?
The videos are sponsored by brands who need to get them in front of as many eyeballs as possible. Every time you watch one of the ads InboxDollars will credit your account with a little bit of cash.
You’ll get a free $5 just for signing up.

2. Stop Deleting Your Emails

It turns out that deleting your emails could be costing you serious money. Intrigued?
My new secret weapon is called Paribus — a tool that gets you money back for your online purchases. It’s free to sign up for Paribus. Once you do, they will scan your email archives for any receipts. If it discovers you’ve purchased something from Amazon, Target or one of the other 16 retailers listed on their website, it will track the item’s price and issue you a refund anytime there’s a price drop!
You don’t have to do anything!
It also checks the tracking info for your online orders. If something shows up late, Paribus will help you get money back for what you paid for shipping — up to a full shipping refund.

3. Fill This Out While You’re Watching TV

Most of you know surveys aren’t our favorite way to make extra money, but we make an exception when we’re just vegging out on the couch. We figure as long as we’re just watching TV, there’s no reason we can’t click a few buttons at the same time.
Vip Voice and Mypoints are two of the only legitimate paid survey companies out there (they’re rated an A+ with the Better Business Bureau).
Some of these sites do pay in points instead of cold, hard cash, but you can use those points to purchase gift cards with actual cash value. Should you prefer cash over the cards, you can turn around and sell any gift cards you earn.

4. Earn Up to $60/Hour as a Part-Time Bookkeeper

Does earning $60 an hour sound appealing? How about the freedom to work remotely while helping others succeed?
Those are the perks of working as a bookkeeper, says Ben Robinson, a certified public accountant and business owner who teaches others to become virtual bookkeepers.
And no, you don’t have to have a CPA to be successful in this business. In fact, all you really need are decent computer skills and a passion for helping business owners tackle real-world problems.
It’s a great opportunity for moms who want to work part time, millennials who are just out of college and anyone who wants to bring in real money while working from home.
We talked to Ben Robinson about what it takes to become a virtual bookkeeper, as well as tips and advice for making this career track work for you.

5. Drive with Uber and Lyft

If you find solace on the road and enjoy finding the best route across town, driving with Uber and Lyft is a great way to do it!
As an Uber contractor, you’re responsible for setting your schedule and motivating yourself to work — no one is keeping tabs on you. Your earnings will be calculated by adding a base fare, plus time and distance traveled after your pickup, and Uber charges a service fee (20-35% depending on your city).
If you want to give it a try there are a few things to keep in mind. You must be at least 21 years old, have three years of driving experience, have an in-state driver’s license, a clean driving record and be able to pass a criminal background check.
Finally, your car must be a four-door, seat at least four passengers (excluding the driver), be registered in-state and be covered by in-state insurance.
If you don’t have a car that meets the requirements, Uber’s Vehicle Solutions can connect you to options to help you find one from their network of partnerships.
In participating markets, you could rent a vehicle by the week – a simple way to dip your toes into rideshare driving.
If you qualify, you could also apply for a flexible lease with unlimited mileage and payments deducted directly from your Uber earnings. Ready to buy new? Driving with Uber could get you a discount on eligible vehicles.
Since it’s simple to switch between apps, many Uber drivers also sign up to drive with Lyft.
The company recently announced it’s expanding into 100 new cities this year. Expansion areas include the Southwest, the Southeast, the Carolinas, the Rockies, the Midwest, New England and Central California.
To be eligible, you’ll need to be at least 21 years old with a year of driving experience, pass a background check and own a car made in 2007 or later.

6. Download These Apps

A number of companies will actually pay you for downloading apps on your smartphone — and you’ll get paid for every month you keep them installed.
The apps collect data and help companies better understand web and mobile usage — such as what times of day people browse, how long they stay on websites and use apps, and what types of sites and apps are popular (or not).
+ Nielsen Panel – If you have a PC or laptop, this Nielsen panel will pay you $50/year to keep this software on your computer and browse the web like you normally do.
+ MobileXpression for Android – After you’ve installed this app for one week, you get to play an instant rewards game for a prize (everyone wins something). I won a $25 Amazon gift card, but some of the other prizes include iPads & Samsung TVs.
+ MobileXpression for iPhones – This one is the same, but for iPhones.
+ SavvyConnect — You can earn $5 per device (phone, tablet or computer) for each month SavvyConnect is installed. That’s a total of up to $180 per year to help rank the most popular sites and apps. Make sure you keep it installed at least a month to get your first $5 per device.

7. This App Pays You to Go On Secret Missions

Remember scavenger hunts when you were a kid? Ever pretend you were a private investigator on an important mission?
Don’t let a few years get in the way of your fun.
QuickThoughts turns your cell phone into private-eye technology, taking you on top-secret missions in your area.
Was that CVS you visited last month clean? How do the lines look at that McDonald’s you’ve stopped by for lunch?
QuickThoughts Missions relies on your input — and sneakily-taken cellphone photography — to give businesses important feedback. And like any respectable PI, you get paid for your investigative footwork. Pretending as an adult is looking better and better!
Using your phone’s GPS technology, the app will prompt you for information from places you’ve visited in the past few weeks, as well as places it detects you’re visiting right now.
It even has missions you can accept and complete in the future. For instance, it might prompt you to go to your local Walgreens and snap a photo of the seasonal display.
And you’ll earn valuable gift cards for Amazon and iTunes while you’re at it.
Are your closets and shelves packed to the brim with stuff you never use — or even look at?
You can sell virtually anything on letgo. This intuitive app lets you snap a photo and upload your item in less than 30 seconds. Not only does it remove a lot of the hassle of selling things online, it’s 100% free to use.

9. Get a Free $10 Gift Card from Ebates

Believe it or not, there are sites that will give you free gift cards just for signing up with them.
One of my favorites is Ebates, the cash-back shopping site. They’re giving away $10 gift cards if you sign-up as a new member and earn your first cashback rebate. You can choose either a $10 Target, Walmart, Macy’s or Kohl’s gift card.
You do have to wait 30 days. But, it’s free money so can you really complain?

Just download the app and start scanning the barcodes on your media to get immediate quotes. It’s completely free to use, there are no listing or seller fees, payment is super fast and there is even free shipping.
Plus, enter PENNY10 at checkout to get an extra 10% for your trade-ins!

11. Get a Free $5 From Stash

It’s no brilliant secret that investing can be a smart way to make money.
But it feels restricted to a few wealthy elite.
But Stash is different. This app lets you start investing with as little as $5 and for just a $1 monthly fee (the first months is free).
Stash curates investments from professional fund managers and investors and lets you choose where to put your money.
But they leave the complicated investment terms out of it. You just choose from a set of simple portfolios reflecting your beliefs, interests and goals.

12. Rent Your Spare Bedroom (or Backyard) This Weekend

Have a spare room? Might as well use Airbnb to make some money by renting it out.
If you’re a good host with a desirable space, you could add hundreds — even thousands — of dollars to your savings account with Airbnb.
And there’s no reason you can’t be creative. We even found a guy that earns $1,380/month renting out a backyard tent on Airbnb!
Taking a few simple steps can make the difference between a great experience and a less-than-satisfactory one.
Here are a few tips:
Make your space available during high-demand times in your area. Think: concerts, conventions and sporting events in your area.
Be a good host, and make sure your place is stocked with the toiletries you’d expect at a hotel — toilet paper, soap and towels.
Be personable. A lot of travelers turn to Airbnb for the personal touch they won’t find at commercial properties.
Here’s the link to sign up as an Airbnb host.

14. Earn a $100+ Bonus by Opening a New Credit Card

As long as you pay down your credit balance in full each month, rewards cards are a great way to make some extra money.
We’re not advocating that you open 1,497 credit cards like this guy, but taking advantage of a sign-up bonus here or there can definitely help your bank account
Check out this list of six credit cards with no annual fee that offer a $100 bonus or more when you open a new account.
i. Earn $200 with Barclaycard.
There’s also the Barclaycard CashForward™ World MasterCard®, which is fun to say.
You’ll get a $200 bonus when you sign up and spend $1,000 within 90 days. When you think about it, $1,000 isn’t really that much — groceries can add up pretty fast.
Plus, you’ll earn 1.5% cash back on every purchase. Each time you redeem those rewards, you also get a 5% redemption bonus to use toward your next redemption.
And what do you know: There’s still no annual fee.
You can find all the details — and sign up — online.
ii. Earn $150 With Chase Freedom Unlimited.
Right now, I have a Chase card I use religiously. And the Chase Freedom Unlimited is an excellent card option.
You’ll have to spend $500 within three months to score the sign-up bonus, but it’s $150. Just use it for your regular spending (and be sure to pay it off completely each month) and you should pretty easily earn the bonus.
You’ll also get 1.5% cash back on each purchase, with no category restrictions. It all adds up pretty quickly!
Again — no annual fee.
iii. Earn $100 with Blue Cash Everyday Card from American Express.
I can dig this card — and I think other Amazon fans will, too.
Similar to the other offers, you’ll have to spend $1,000 in the first three months to get $100 back.
But in terms of rewards, you’ll get 3% cash back at U.S. supermarkets (basically where I’m at every night) and 2% cash back at U.S. gas stations. This could be your errand-only credit card.
But what really sets the Blue Cash Everyday Card from the others is you’ll earn 10% back on Amazon purchases made within the first six months of having the card — up to $200. Pretty cool, right?
Again, there’s no annual fee, but you must apply by Jan. 11, 2017.
iv. Earn $150 with Wells Fargo Cash Wise Visa Card.
Scandals aside, Wells Fargo offers a pretty good deal with its Cash Wise Visa Card.
Sign up, spend $1,000 in the first three months and get rewarded $150. You’ll also earn cash rewards: 1.5% for every $1 spent.
Since there’s no annual fee, the rewards will add up faster than you think!
v. Earn $100 with BankAmericard Cash Rewards.
BankAmericard Cash Rewards is the first credit card I had — the one I didn’t get any pleasure from. But if you actually use it, I imagine you can accumulate a good chunk of cash.
If you purchase at least $500 worth of whatever your heart so desires or needs, you’ll get a $100 bonus.
In the meantime, you’ll also collect cash back — 1% on every purchase, 2% at grocery stores (and wholesale stores) and 3% on gas with no annual fee.
vi. Earn $100 with the TD Cash Credit Card.
Eat out a lot? The TD Cash Credit Card might be a perfect fit for those cravings.

Again, no annual fees. Eat up this offer by Jan. 14, 2017, foodies!
So if you’re like me and wary of credit cards, don’t be — as long as you can pay those bills off.
As you can see, there are a variety of credit card sign-up bonus opportunities.

17. Sell Board Game Pieces

Ever seen a board game in the thrift store but noticed with great sadness it was missing half the pieces?
You might want to put the game in your shopping cart anyway. One Penny Hoarder made $250 in six months selling spare board game pieces online. You can even sell “mystery bags” of pieces for $12 a pop!
It may take some time for your listings to sell, but if you follow Laura’s guide, you can probably make $100 in about three months.

18. Get a Free $5 From Clink to Start Saving

If you’re anything like me, you might make excuses like “I don’t have enough money” or “The stock market isn’t safe” — and not do anything. So your money sits in a savings account — and rots. Not even earning enough interest to keep up with inflation.
Sound familiar?
That’s how I dealt with my money, just hoping some investment fairy would come and show me the magical ways of stocks and index funds and compound interest.
But only until recently. I just started using an app called Clink that lets me invest in the stock market with just $1 a day. Plus, it’ll give you a free $5 just for downloading the app!
Even better, it didn’t require me to get my master’s in finance to understand the terms, or give up my firstborn to pay the fees.
To get the $5 bonus, download the Clink smartphone app and setup your account with the same email address. Be sure to use the promo code: PH201

19. Write About TV Shows

Do you like to stay up-to-date on the latest popular — and not-so-popular — TV shows? Get paid for the TV you’re watching in your spare time by writing reviews!
Writing about TV comes in a lot of forms, according to NPR television reporter Linda Holmes. Lots of sites pay writers to review or recap shows, but they come with different tones.
You could do a straightforward review of the craft of the show, search for symbolism in the story or start a conversation with readers about the lives of the characters.
If you prefer a bit of snark, you might write for a site that prefers to riff off TV shows. These turn your review into an opportunity for biting punchlines.
A few places to get you started:

21. Rent Out Your RV

How many people do you know who bought an RV for one awesome camping trip or music festival… only to look back a few years later and realize they don’t use it as much as they thought they would?
If you’re in that boat (er, camper), you can turn your unused RV into cash.
You can rent your RV to other travelers through RVshare, a peer-to-peer rental marketplace.
How much you’ll earn per day will vary based on your location and the type of vehicle you have. We ran a quick hypothetical and found that Class A models made in the past 15 years range $185 – $375 a night here in St. Petersburg, Florida!
That’s a smart way to make your pricy RV pay for itself — or to bank some cash for your next big road trip.

22. These U-Haul Jobs Let You Work From Home

Some good news for those of you who want to work from home…
Thanks to one of our readers, we found out U-Haul is hiring part-time, work-from-home customer service representatives all across the country. (Thanks for the tip, Tasha!)
Even better, you don’t need a college degree OR experience to snag one. U-Haul lists three work-from-home positions on its site. They’re categorized as “moonlighter jobs” with flexible hours, which U-Haul says are ideal for people with other work or familial responsibilities.
For each, you’ll need to have a headset, high-speed internet and a computer with Windows XP or 7. Training is paid and lasts four weeks. We reached out to U-Haul for further details about the jobs, and will update the post if and when we hear back.

23. Rate Your Local Pizza Place

One of the most popular types of mystery shops is for pizza companies — both Papa Johns and Pizza Hut regularly conduct mystery shops at all of their locations. As part of the assignment you’re required to time their delivery service, quality of pizza, etc.
It’s pretty easy to do and you can do it several times a year. If you’re interested in giving it a try, here’s a list of my favorite mystery shopping companies.
Best Mark
Sinclair Customer Metrics
Market Force
Intelli-shop
Experience Exchange
For those of you who aren’t familiar with mystery shopping, it’s a job where a company pays you to pose like a regular customer and then provide feedback to the company on things like how clean the store was or how well the employees interacted with you.
In exchange for your feedback, they pay you a fee and in most cases they will ask you to make a purchase and will reimburse you up to a set dollar amount.
Be Careful of Mystery Shopping Scams
If you’ve looked into mystery shopping before, you know that there are a lot of scammers that are trying to take advantage of this industry’s growing popularity.
A few rules: NEVER pay to join a mystery shopping company. The legitimate ones never ask for a payment for you.
NEVER pay money to a company to see their list of jobs. Legitimate mystery shopping companies are always short of shoppers, so they never ask for you to pay to see a list of their jobs.
And lastly, check to see if they mystery shopping company is a member of the MSPA. They are the official organization that is in charge of regulating mystery shopping companies.
Trust me — there are a ton of real mystery shopping companies, so stay away from the scams.

24. Pick Up Babysitting Gigs Whenever You’re Available

Keep your eyes and ears peeled, and offer to babysit while friends or co-workers go out for the evening — you could earn $50 to $100.
If you don’t want to bother the people you already know, sign up with SitterCity.
Once you create your profile on the app, you can browse babysitting jobs in your area. Parents post to the app looking for full-time nannies, date-night sitters, last-minute care, and even pet or senior care and housekeeping.
Families can review your profile and run a background check before contacting you. Then you’ll meet them over the phone or in person to talk about their needs and your rates.
If you like hanging out with kids, babysitting could make a fulfilling full-time job or just a fun way to make extra money in your free time.

25. Sell Your Unlimited Data Plan for Up to $2,000

Grandfathered into an amazing unlimited data plan for your phone or tablet?
You can sell that.
If you’re not making use of all those GBs, put it up on eBay — unlimited data plans are selling for between $300 and $2,000 each.
It’s a little more complicated than it sounds — after all, these plans weren’t meant to be resold. But if you’re down with a little loophole dance, this could net you big.

PTO Today wants writers to tackle topics such as parental participation in schools, leadership, playground projects, fundraising, group management and organization, and education.
The magazine pays by the assignment, not the word. Department pieces (600-1,200 words) can net between $150 and $400, and features (1,200-2,200 words) range from $200 to $700.
You will be paid upon acceptance or within 30 days after you send an invoice.

Make sure your guest post article is 900 to 1500 words long and contains a 30-minute action plan at the very end. If your article is accepted, you will be paid anywhere from $75 to $100 via PayPal.
vi. A Fine Parent
A Fine Parent operates on the theme that “great parents are made, not born.” Articles are geared toward helping readers become better people and parents.
You don’t have to be a professional writer, but if you have nuggets of wisdom to offer based on your parenting experience, A Fine Parent is the place to share them.
Before you pitch, take a look at the site’s current topics. Most articles range from 1,500-3,000 words, and payment is $100 per article. In the event your post makes it to the top of the popular list for the year, you will be given an extra $200 bonus.
As of now, the site has content to last until June 2017 and is closed to submissions. However, you can sign up to be notified when submissions are open again.
The above list is by no means conclusive, but it’s a good starting point. Remember to read the writer submission guidelines before you pitch and be smart with the money you make.
Your Turn: Did your favorite parenting site make the list? Share any other mommy blogs that pay in the comments.

27. Make an Extra $50/Week Working for Amazon

Have you heard of Amazon Mechanical Turk? Unlike other online sites that look for contract help, the Amazon Mechanical Turk service offers easy to accomplish tasks that can be completed by almost anyone with a computer.
From the articles and advice I’ve read from others completing tasks, the key seems to be just to jump in and quickly accept the next task you are qualified for. Don’t spend time hunting for the perfect task, just do them next, next, next, etc. While basic tasks may only pay $0.10 they are easy and quick to complete. It does not take long to complete a task in less than a minute, so in an hour, with little experience, you can make $6 to $10 depending on how fast you are.
Amazon Mechanical Turk is not a get rich quick scam or one of those make massive income in your spare time ripoffs. But, realistically you can make an extra $50 or so each month.

28. Sell Your Coupons

What can you do with the extra coupons you won’t use from your newspaper each week? Sell them on eBay.
You’ll have to pay seller fees, but you might be surprised at how much a single coupon can net you — some bring in $300! People are dedicated to getting 10% off at Sears or Target with the right coupon. Are you dedicated enough to spot a sales opportunity when you see it next to the funny pages?

29. Earn Up to $30/Day With “In-Theater Checks”

You can actually got paid $30 to attend one of the Harry Potter movie premieres. Theaters and movie studios are interested in collecting data about the audience that attends their movie premieres. They want to know how many people buy tickets on opening day, what screening time is most popular, and what previews are being shown. And they want independent data from 3rd party evaluators.
They are known as “in-theater checks” and to apply, you’ll need to fill out an application with one of the largest mystery shopping companies, Certified Field Associates. The application is just a few questions long and nearly everyone in the United States and Canada is eligible to be hired.
(Note: I get a lot of questions about how to know if a mystery shopping company is real. Here’s a hint: you should never have to pay a fee to join! That’s a big red flag!)
Once you’ve been accepted as a new auditor with Certified Field Associates, you will want to keep a close eye on their online assignment list. As new assignments become available, they will be posted to that list. If you find a movie that you would like to attend, you have the ability to self-assign the project to yourself. “In-theater checks” don’t have huge paydays attached to them, but you can usually expect to make between $10-20 per hour.

30. Check Your Wallet For Strange Dollars

Specifically, dollar bills with strange serial numbers — ones that aren’t easy to come by. The collectors at CoolSerialNumbers.com have created a list of their most-wanted serial numbers, and you might have a bill with one of these sequences on it in your wallet.
Turns out antique coins aren’t the only currency worth cash to collectors.
Check out the full list http://www.coolserialnumbers.com/Wanted.aspx to see if you’ve got any of these rare bills, but here’s a rundown of the sort of serial numbers these collectors are looking for:
7 repeating digits in a row on $1 Federal Reserve Notes (i.e. 09999999, 77777776)
7 of a kind on $1 Federal Reserve Notes (i.e. 00010000, 99999099)
Super repeaters on $1 Federal Reserve Notes (i.e. 67676767)
Double quads on $1 Federal Reserve Notes (i.e. 00009999)
and more!

31. Proofread Documents

If you’ve got a keen eye for grammar and formatting, freelance proofreading could be your next great gig — one that pays about $17 an hour. The average rate per page for proofreading is 35 cents, so your earnings depend on how efficiently you work. It’s not a great moneymaker for procrastinators!
Curious about learning how to become a proofreader? Sign up for this free seven-day mini-course on ProofreadAnywhere.com!

32. Serve as a Mock Juror

Fascinated by courtroom drama, but hate wasting the day in jury duty for a measly $4 payout?
Serve as an online mock juror to help lawyers prepare for real cases. You can earn $10 to $60 for about an hour of your time. Instead of hearing arguments from both sides of the case, you review evidence, like documents, videos and photos, at your computer.

33. Test Websites

Sign up to help companies determine how customers use their websites. With UserTesting, you’ll make about $10 for spending 20 minutes evaluating websites or testing apps. The best part? You’ll be paid via PayPal within seven days.
This opportunity is available in the U.S., but we’re hearing there are a ton of jobs in the UK, Canada, Germany and Australia right now!

34. Jump on the Class-Action Bandwagon

If you use a product that’s involved in a class-action lawsuit, a little online legwork could get you a cash payout. The rules of each settlement are different, but in most cases you’ll have to provide proof of purchase or product use, like a serial number or a receipt. Once you fill out your online claim form, you may have to wait a few weeks or months before receiving your payment.

35. Find Your Missing Money

Search online to find unclaimed money from retirement accounts you’ve forgotten, old security deposits and more. Check the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators website to find out how to search in your home state.
This strategy can only help you find your own misplaced money. If you keep good track of your cash already, you may not find anything.

36. Work as a Transcriptionist

Are you a good listener — and a good typist? You can make $15 to $25 an hour as a transcriptionist.
You’ll need experience in the medical or legal fields to get those transcription assignments, but plenty of researchers, reporters and Average Joes are willing to pay for someone to type up their recordings.
You get paid per audio hour, so this is another task that’s perfect for people with great focus. If an hour-long recording takes you four hours to transcribe, you still only get paid for one hour. Listen closely!

37. Sell Your Smartphone Photos

If you have a smartphone and a photographic eye, making money may have just gotten a lot easier. Oh yeah – you’ll also need access to marketable scenery.
There’s a new app called Foap that allows you to turn your smartphone photos into cash.
Here’s how it works. You download the free app. You sign up for an account. You take a quality photo. You upload photo to Foap’s marketplace. Someone buys the license to your photo for $10. You make $5.
If your photo sells 20 times, you make $5 each time and end up with $100 in your pocket — all for about five minutes of work. Pretty cool, right?

38. Get Paid To Watch (More) TV

Trivia fiends will love this.
Download the Perk Pop Quiz app and pick from one of the many trivia categories — The 90’s & The 2000s, Music & Movie Quotes and Famous Slogans are just a few.
The more correct answers you rack up, the more points you get. You can redeem those points for gift cards to Amazon, Starbucks, Nike, GameStop, Target and other stores.
You’re not going to get rich doing this, but it’s a fun way to make an extra $15 to $20 a month for the shows you already enjoy watching.

39. Tutor Chess Players

Love to play chess? Tutor other chess players online to make $35 to $50 per hour.
Tutoring sites like WyzAnt can take a big cut (40% until you hit 20 hours of tutoring!), but you’ll get practice (and get paid) without leaving the house. Even if you’re a lower-rated player, you can charge $20 per hour to work with beginners.

40. Rent Your Clothing

You can make money renting clothing through sites like Loanables or Style Lend.
If you’ve got lots of special-occasion or high-end clothes, you could practically be running your own Rent the Runway from your closet!
Make sure to read the fine print on rental sites. Some don’t charge any fees to the buyers and sellers, but some charge a rental commission of 3 to 5% per order. You’ll need to price your wares accordingly to account for any commission handed over to the company!

41. Earn up to $700/Month Fixing Search Results

You will make about $700 this month for evaluating search engine results this month.
And the best part? Most of it is done while sitting at home in my pajamas. How can you do this? Read on for more guide.
Search engines use complicated algorithms to determine the results you see. For example, if you type the name of one of our writers, Steve Gillman, into a Google search box, a half-million possibly-relevant web pages will be narrowed down using various criteria until a second later you see his smiling face. You’ll also see links to his personal website, his blog on the Huffington Post, and LinkedIn profiles for a bunch of guys who share his name.
But the search engines don’t always get it right.
They are full of errors, so they need real humans to look at the results and judge them for quality, relevancy, and usefulness. If you’re interested in this type of work, head over to this article to get more info on how to apply.

42. Find Virtual Odd Jobs on TaskRabbit

TaskRabbit helps you connect with regular people who need help getting things done — everything from picking up dry cleaning to calling customer service and tolerating the hold music.
Keep an eye out for virtual tasks, which are mostly centered around personal assistance, administrative work or research help. Last year, TaskRabbit established a pricing floor of $14 for its Taskers. You can rest assured that you won’t be getting paid pennies to solve someone’s Excel woes.

43. Hang Out at Bars

Sign up for the Bar Integrity Mystery Shop through the Mystery Shopping Providers Association to get paid to go to bars.
As a mystery shopper, you’ll pose as a regular customer — while secretly rating each bar on speed of service, friendliness, accuracy, cleanliness and other factors.
MSP offers other types of mystery shops, as well. Choose what fits your schedule, so you can pick up retail shopping and restaurants, too, if you want to round out your day.

44. Open a Netspend Account For a Free $20

This is another easy $20 just for requesting a prepaid, reloadable card from Netspend.
1. Open a NetSpend account for FREE. Use the promotion code if you have one.
2. You will receive your NetSpend “Visa” Debit card within 10 business days. Some people had theirs in four days.
3. Once you receive the card, simply log into NetSpend and activate it.
4. In order to get the FREE $20, you’ll need to load the card with a minimum of $40 using PayPal, a bank account or one of the other many options.
5. Once you load $40, NetSpend will add $20 to your available balance on the card. This was confirmed by subsribers with their own cards.
6. Go to the ATM and withdraw the $60 total from your card or spend the funds at your local store, online or wherever you can use a credit card. Yes, if you withdraw the money via ATM or cash back, you’ll be hit with the $2 fee for a PIN transaction or a $2.50 ATM Fee (would only be $17.50-$18 bonus in this case). But, you can avoid the fee by ACH transferring it for free back to your bank

45. Make Money Test Driving Cars

Working through a company like BestMark, you’ll go to car lots and pose as a potential buyer.
So you get to test drive a car, which is pretty cool.
It also means you listen to the sales pitch, which is less exciting. But then you report back on your experience and get paid!
You can do automotive mystery shopping, and you’d make $60 for each dealership you visited.

46. Sell Your Friendship

Get paid to be someone’s buddy! I’m not kidding.
You can register to become a Friend at RentAFriend.com, where paying users can contact you to attend concerts, sporting events, family functions, VIP events and more.
You can charge up to $50 an hour and set your own schedule.
Friends working full time (five days a week) earn up to $2,000 a week, plus free dinners and access to those events I mentioned.
What could you do as a “Friend” for 40 hours a week?
First of all, the site clarifies that it is “solely a platonic friendship website” — beyond that, options are endless.
If you have a special skill, like cooking or foreign language, you could teach them. Some people traveling or new to an area hire a Friend to show them the town. Some people just want someone to talk to.

47. Sell Your Junk Mail

We don’t know about you, but we get a ton of junk mail.
Our email inbox and mailbox are both full of crap from different cable providers, credit card offers, car insurance, etc.
If you’ve ever wondered what you could do with all the junk mail besides recycling it or sending it to your email’s trash folder, SBK Center http://www.sbkcenter.com/consumer.html has the answer.
This market research company will happily accept your junk mail and email and give you Visa prepaid cards for it, which work just like debit cards.

48. Sell Jellyfish

Yes, there’s a market for pet jellyfish. And they’re not cheap.
The first retailer of its kind, JellyfishArt.com sell jellyfish, their specialized LED-lit tanks, food and other products. The least-expensive kit at the site costs $330.
How do you break into this bizarre business?
There’s a bit of a learning curve, but it’s not impossible: Alex Andon founded Jellyfish Art with less than $100 for advertising, plus loads of guts and creativity.

49. Flip a Freebie

Selling Craigslist freebies is a great way to make a profit quickly, because you get the items for free.
You could even have cash in hand today.
Go to the free section on Craigslist and look for things that are close to you and easy to sell immediately. They could be scraps from a job site or metal items you can sell, for example.
For a quick turnaround, avoid items like furniture or electronics. These can be good to sell, too, but will take longer.
Cash in your treasures by reselling on Craigslist, including them in a rummage sale or selling to specialty buyers, like a pawn shop or a local business that could use whatever you’ve just picked up.

50. Become a Dog Masseuse

We’ve talked before about ways to get paid to spend time with cats and dogs, but this is a new one: pet massage.
That’s right — some people earn money for massaging animals. It might sound a little strange, but apparently many cats and dogs enjoy a good massage as much as humans do.
If you like petting your furry friends, why not explore this option? With a bit of training you can make $50 per hour as a pet massage therapist. Here’s how to get started.
Why Dog Massage?
Just like humans and other animals, dogs feel sore and develop stiff joints due to aging, inactivity or recent exertion, according to Lola Michelin, founder of the Northwest School of Animal Massage. Massage can help alleviate these symptoms, and usually starts with petting the afflicted areas to warm the muscles. Then the therapist will gently and repeatedly compress the muscles to pump fluids through the tissues and to relieve pressure on tendons.
Michelin says “regular massage throughout the life of your pet may help prevent the stiffness and pain that contributes to arthritis.” That’s not a bad sales pitch, but before you offer to massage other people’s pets for money you’ll want to learn the proper techniques. We’ll have more on how to do that in a moment.
What About Cat Massage?
Cats, naturally, are a little pickier about their massages. Maryjean Ballner, author of Cat Massage, suggests starting with a “voice massage,” which involves repeating an “endearing phrase” using “a soothing tone.” Then you let the cat get familiar with you by sniffing you. Finally, you start the actual massage, using similar techniques to the ones you’d use for a dog.
According to Ballner, cats benefit from massage in several ways:
Physiologically, massage stimulates the body’s nerves, muscles, circulatory system and lymphatic system. It enhances range of motion, increases the supply of oxygen and nutrients to muscle cells, relieves muscle spasms and helps to flush away toxic compounds, such as lactic acid, that cause pain.
Legal Requirements for a Pet Massage Therapist
If you look at a chart of animal massage laws by state, you’ll notice a lot of inconsistency. For example, a few states, including Arizona, Maine and Arkansas, consider massage to be a medical procedure, and therefore restrict the practice to veterinarians.
Other states, including Alabama, Louisiana, Alaska and Delaware, allow unlicensed massage therapists to work with animals, but only in veterinary offices. If you live in one of those states, you’ll have to find a friendly vet willing to hire you.
Some states, including Oregon, South Carolina and Oklahoma, allow veterinarians to delegate this work. In those states you might still need to get certified, but you could work from home if you can convince vets to refer customers to you.
A few states haven’t yet regulated the practice. For example, the Association of Animal Massage & Bodywork says this about Montana: “No specific wording in state vet practice act.” They add this quote from the veterinary board of the state: “Massage for relaxation and general toning is not prohibited by the board. The board does not restrict animal massage to licensed veterinarians.” The same is true for other states, including Minnesota, Florida, Idaho, California and Connecticut..
In many cases, animal massage is a legal gray area. It depends on how terms like “veterinary practice” and “veterinary medicine” are defined. But equissage.com points out that “only 22 states require licensing for human massage therapists,” so more extensive regulation of animal massage is probably not going to happen in the near future. Be sure to check the regulations in your state before planning your new business.
Training as a Pet Massage Therapist
You can learn quite a bit online, and there are even many pet massage videos on YouTube. But to be certified, you’ll need to be trained by one of the many pet massage schools.
For example, the Canine Massage Therapist (CMT) program offered on Equissage.com costs $895. They claim a 95% passing rate on the final exam of the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB).
The Northwest School of Animal Massage (NWSAM) in Fall City, Washington, has three programs, each with a distance-learning section followed by a “5-day practical.” It costs at least $2,000 for each level.
Keep in mind that although you do not need to be certified in many states, it does help you appear more professional both to veterinarians and pet owners.
How Much Can You Make Massaging Pets?
How much you can make as a pet massage therapist depends on where you offer your services and how much experience you have. Here are some of the places you might work:
Your own storefront
Your home
Pet owners’ homes
Pet grooming salons
Veterinary clinics
Pet boarding facilities
At the low end of the pay scale are jobs in grooming salons. As a veterinary assistant who specializes in massage, you’ll make a bit more. The best pay could potentially be in running your own pet massage business — though like all businesses, your earnings may vary.
When working on your own, NWSAM says you can charge between $50 and $120 per hour, and do up to 25 sessions per week. They also advise charging extra for “specialized treatment” and travel.
Actual rates advertised by pet massage therapists from Kansas to California to Connecticut suggest that normal charges are from $35 to $50 for a half-hour up to an hour. The pet’s comfort and tolerance for attention determines the length of most sessions. (Click to tweet this idea.)
If you work from home and have 10 clients each weekend, you can make a few hundred dollars each week doing pet massage part-time. Do it full time and you might make a good living.
Your Turn: Would you consider massaging pets for a living or for extra income?

51. Write Slogans for Major Companies

Can you sum up a product in a sentence? Think of something funny — and not another joke about too many candles — to put on a birthday card? Make a point in few concise words?
If so, you might be able to make money writing slogans.
Companies sometimes need new corporate taglines, advertising slogans and jingles. Bumper sticker and greeting card makers want cute, endearing or funny thoughts to put on their products.
When these businesses need help, they sometimes collect submissions from freelance writers or run contests that anyone can enter — including you!
Try one or more of these platforms to get started:
Slogan Slingers http://www.sloganslingers.com/writerRegister.php helps companies create slogan contests in which their registered writers compete. It’s free to sign up as a writer, and the company claims you can “make up to $999 per contest (minus our small admin fee).”
Get a Slogan http://www.getaslogan.com/contribute.php is a “crowd-sourcing platform that brings in custom, creative and catchy slogans from a variety of sloganeers.” Companies come to them for help, and writers submit their ideas. It’s free to sign up, but you initially have only “qualifying” status. Once you obtain “qualified” status, you’ll receive $50 for each of your winning slogans.
Freelancer.com has a section devoted to slogan-writing projects, which are sometimes run as contests. For example, at the moment a personal injury law firm is offering $150 for the best “unique and memorable tagline/slogan.”

52. Become an Election Officer

You can cash in on our right to vote on Election Day (and it should be a very interesting one in 2016). Many localities need election officers, especially those who are bilingual. And while the hours may be long, the pay isn’t bad for a day’s – in some cases 6 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. — work.
For example, in Fairfax County, Va., which needs 3,500 election officers, election officers are paid $175 for a full day. In Monterey County, Calif., election officers are paid $135 (for clerks) and $185 (for inspectors).
Generally, to qualify, you must be at least 18 years of age and a registered voter in the state, be a U.S. citizen, read and write English, and have transportation to the polling place. You’ll likely also have to devote time to attend a training class.

53. Coach a Youth Sports Team

This one may require some creative workarounds with your full-time job – but that’s the case with most moonlighting work. In the case of coaching youth teams, it often means late-afternoon, evening and weekend availability, plus knowledge of the intricacies of a sport – soccer, hockey, softball, you name it — and how to teach it to others.
Many recreational youth sports clubs, especially travel teams, around the country pay their coaching staffs. The pay scale for youth soccer coaches on club teams, for example, tops out at around $2,000 per month at the highest level, according to Job Monkey, a job-search website. But note: You have to be certified at various levels to pull down that pay scale and also have safety certifications, which may or may not be paid by the organization.
Some high schools around the country also rely on outside individuals to coach teams if teachers aren’t interested in taking those positions. (I coached high-school soccer and a club team for a few years while also working my full-time job as a journalist.) Pay varies. I received $2,500 per season for coaching high-school soccer. Of course, from pre-season to post-season and all the daily practices and games in between, that’s not a lot – but it was a lot of fun.

54. Teach

If you’re a professional, colleges and universities are always on the lookout for adjunct professors. Some may require a master’s degree; others just a college degree and professional experience to share with students. I taught visual and print journalism at two esteemed schools – one required a master’s degree, which I have — for a number of years while holding down a full-time job. The gigs added several thousand dollars to our annual household income and, more, it was richly fulfilling to work with students eager to learn. How do you get an adjunct teaching job? Reach out to community colleges, colleges or universities where you live. Depending on your specialty – say, accounting – reach out to the department head in that particular school and inquire about becoming an adjunct.
How about substitute teaching? Grade schools and high schools nationwide are looking for people to substitute teach – and some have outsourced the hiring process. Source4Teachers, a Cherry Hill, N.J.-based K-12 educational staffing firm, works with more than 220 school systems across the Northeast to fill substitute teacher and other staffing positions.
“We fill a lot of nonteaching roles that don’t require certification, filled by people who are maybe getting their feet wet, seeing if they want to pursue a teaching career,’’ says Owen Murphy of Source4Teachers. It varies by state and school district, but some don’t require substitutes to have teaching certification. Pennsylvania, for example, allows people with a bachelor’s degree to apply for one-year emergency certification to substitute.
Pay varies by district, but substitute teachers can make between $90 and $120 per day. Teaching-certified substitutes make about $20 more per day than non-certified subs, according to experts.

55. Be a Tour Guide

If you know a lot about the city where you live, you may be able to profit from your knowledge by guiding tours. For example, travel guide sites including Vayable let anyone list a tour or experience that tells a unique story about a destination – from its art to its history to its food — and earn money from bookings. U.S. tours that are promoted on Vayable — such as a San Francisco street-art tour or a Washington, D.C., White House tour led by a member of the White House press corps — range in price from about $25 per person to $200 per person, though more-upscale experiences are priced even higher. Vayable takes a 15% cut of whatever you choose to charge travelers and provides online tools to manage reservations, accept credit-card payments and securely communicate with customers.
If you live near an historic site overseen by the National Park Service, you could become a licensed guide. For example, the Licensed Battlefield Guides of Gettysburg, the Pennsylvania site of one of the greatest battles of the American Civil War, are licensed and regulated by the National Park Service and are the only individuals legally allowed to conduct visitors around the national park for a fee. Rates for a two-hour basic battlefield tour range from $55 to $120 depending on group size, with prorated fees of $27.50 to $60 per hour for additional time. Tips are not required but often given.
Are you a runner? Consider earning extra bucks as a running tour guide. City Running Tours – “sweat and sightsee simultaneously” – is one company offering “sightrunning” (it’s a thing) services in 13 (and counting) U.S. cities, including Washington, D.C., and Honolulu. The company offers personalized or group tours. Tips aren’t required, but permitted.
“Some tour guides make on average about $20-$25 per tour plus incentives based on seniority, type of tour, distance, number of participants, referrals and positive reviews,” Michael Gazaleh, president and CEO of City Running Tours, according to experts.

56. Sell Unwanted Electronics

Don’t leave smart phones, tablets, computers or game consoles you’re no longer using in a desk drawer or the back of a closet. You can easily cash in on your unwanted electronics — even damaged items — by selling them online.
Sell used smart phones and Apple products at Gazelle.com and get paid by check, PayPal or an Amazon gift card. You can sell smart phones, tablets, laptops and video games to NextWorth.com for cash or take items to one its partner stores, such as Target, and get store credit. At uSell, you can sell smart phones, tablets, game consoles, video games and textbooks. You get paid by check or through PayPal. Shipping with all of these sites is free. Or bring your video games, smart phones, digital cameras, tablets, game consoles and more to GameStop to earn cash or store credit without the shipping hassles.

57. Search for Unclaimed Property

Federal and state coffers hold billions of dollars’ worth of unclaimed property. Some of it could be yours, but it’s up to you to track down the cash.
The feds hang on to tax refunds that are returned to the IRS because of mailing-address errors or that are never claimed by taxpayers because they didn’t file returns. The government also holds on to forgotten savings bonds, government-guaranteed mortgage-insurance refunds and government pensions that were never claimed. There’s no central database, so you’ll have to check with individual federal agencies about missing funds.
State governments hold onto uncashed dividend checks, returned utility deposits, unclaimed state-tax refunds and uncollected insurance benefits, among other things. (If a bank or other payer doesn’t have your last known address on file, it will turn over your money to the state in which the institution is incorporated.) You can search for unclaimed property held by states at Unclaimed.org and Missingmoney.com.

58. Adjust Your Tax Withholding

If you got a big tax refund for 2015, you’re not alone: The average refund is about $3,034 this year. Why wait until next spring to get the money you really need now? If you’re a refund-receiving taxpayer, you’ve already overpaid your taxes via your initial 2016 paychecks — banking at least a small refund next spring. Fix your tax withholding now to stop that refund from growing by delivering more of your money to you as you earn it.
Simply ask your company’s payroll office for a W-4 form to claim extra allowances, and your take-home pay should rise on your next payday. To see how many allowances you should claim, try our easy-to-use withholding calculator.

59. Tutor

If you have a special skill — whether it’s the ability to play an instrument well, paint like Picasso or explain calculus in a way anyone can understand — you may be able to make money sharing it with others. For example, you could earn $15 to $60 an hour tutoring individual kids or college students if you speak a second language or have great math, science or writing skills.
Advertise your services on school, campus and community bulletin boards, or tutoring web sites such as Wyzant and Tutor.com. And take advantage of social media sites, such as Facebook, to let people know about the lessons you’re able to teach.

60. Model for Artists

Modeling is another great way to earn money – and you have several options. If you’re comfortable posing nude in front of artists and are capable of holding poses for as long as 30 minutes, consider life modeling. Artists want to draw bodies of all shapes and sizes in order to hone their skills. Typical sessions last three hours, and pay is about $12 to $13 per hour. During sessions, models start with short one-minute gesture poses, then transition to longer poses lasting from five to 30 minutes. If you’re interested in becoming a life model, contact local colleges, art organizations and community centers. You can also check Artmodeltips.com for a list of life drawing sessions in the U.S.
If you’re unsure of or uncomfortable with nekkid life modeling, you could take other routes. How about modeling just part of your bod? Fashion magazines, TV shows, commercials and movies are always in need of attractive hands, feet, legs, even beards, unique ears and that perfectly shaped bald head. Body part models earn anywhere from $500 to $2,000 for a day of work. Contact local modeling agencies.

61. Get Paid for Your Opinions

Market-research firms are hired by big businesses to get inside the heads of consumers. Participation in an in-person focus group led by a moderator, such as those run by Focus Pointe Global, can earn you between $65 and $200. Focus Pointe Global also has opportunities for telephone or online surveys.
In exchange for taking online and phone surveys, firms such as Harris Interactive and Schlesinger Associates offer rewards points redeemable for gift cards and merchandise. Beware scams, though. Legitimate firms won’t charge a fee or ask you to cash a check and wire back part of the money.
Lawyers are getting in on the act, too. “Online jurors” can earn cash for giving their opinions on legal cases. EJury.com pays $5 to $10 per case. You’ll need a PayPal account. At OnlineVerdict.com, where fees range from $20 to $60, payment is made by check.

62. Sell Excess Furniture

f you have an attic, garage or storage unit filled with furniture you’re not using, unload those items for cash by selling them on Craigslist. (You might even end up saving the monthly cost of your storage unit.) You can list large items (free) on your local Craigslist classifieds, and buyers will come to you — if you’re comfortable with that. Just be sure to insist on cash to avoid bounced checks. Take good photos, share key details and provide a concise description of what you’re selling.
If you don’t want the hassle of selling items yourself, take furniture and home accessories you no longer want to an upscale consignment store that gets a lot of traffic so that you can get top dollar for your items. Expect to split the profit 50/50 with the store. For more information, see What to Sell — And Not to Sell — at Consignment Shops.
For online furniture consignment, try sites such as Chairish, which lets you sell your used or vintage furniture and home decor and earn up to 80% of the resale value, or AptDeco (only available in New York City and surrounding areas as well as the Washington, D.C. market), which helps you sell used home furnishings and earn up to 86% of the resale value.

63. Sell Collectibles Online

Perhaps you collected baseball cards (or stamps or coins) when you were young, and now they’re just collecting dust. But they might be worth hundreds or thousands of dollars. One place to get top dollar for your collectibles and small items of value is eBay. Click on the “register” link in the top left corner of the homepage to create an account. Then visit the site’s “Seller Center” to learn how to sell. You can list 40 items every month for free, and you’ll pay a 10% fee on each item when it sells. Research prices for merchandise similar to what you plan to sell so that you can price your wares competitively. For more tips on how and where to sell valuable items, see 6 Things You Should Know About Collectibles.
i. What’s hot. Mid 20th century Modern furniture and decorative items are hugely popular, says Atlanta appraiser Valerie Hale. Funky art, costume jewelry and purses from the 1950s through the 1970s are also in vogue, as are regional pottery and glass. The rarer the item, the more pristine its condition (original packaging is a plus) and the better your documentation (the item’s history, including your proof of ownership), the more money it will bring. Hale says there is little demand for items such as small Hummel figurines, which sold 20 years ago for $150 apiece and now sell for $25 on eBay.
ii. Get a ballpark price. Look for comparable items that have sold recently on eBay or LiveAuctioneers.com (see the “auction results database”). Or subscribe to a database of auction-house sales, such as Invaluable ($45 per month) or Prices4Antiques.com ($29.95 for 15 days; $52 for 30 days). Both offer free previews (or you can access them at your public library). Use them, too, to identify auction houses that specialize in your type of item. Collectors and hobbyists can also help you value and sell your stuff. For example, amateur radio clubs often help the families of a “silent key” (a deceased member) find buyers for radios and related gear.
iii. Of Barbies and baseball cards. Barbie dolls from the ’60s will sell if they’re undamaged and in their original boxes, says Josh Tane, of estate seller Adams Unlimited, in Mount Vernon, N.Y. Collectors are also buying very fine, old German and French dolls in porcelain and bisque. High-value sports cards are those printed in 1969 or earlier, according to Heritage Auctions, in Dallas. The ultimate collection? Cousins Karl Kissner and Karla Hench of Defiance, Ohio, found a cache of nearly mint-condition baseball cards dating from 1910 while cleaning out their aunt’s attic. Heritage estimated their value at $2 million.
iv. Hire an appraiser. An appraiser who specializes in personal property and your type of collection can give you an expert written opinion and help you identify other objects of potential value. Look for one accredited by the Appraisers Association of America, the American Society of Appraisers or the International Society of Appraisers. Appraisers typically charge $75 to $150 an hour.
v. Let a pro sell it for you. A local antiques dealer or estate-sale company will buy most of your stuff for about 30% to 50% of what the company estimates it will go for. An auction house will advertise to interested buyers and take a fee equal to 20% to 30% of the final sale price. Consignment shops price and sell vintage accessories and typically take 45% to 50% of the final price. Note: Such middlemen can be selective.
vi. Or do it yourself. You can conduct an online auction at eBay (list your first 50 items per month free; eBay takes 10% of the total sale amount, up to a maximum of $250 per item). Start the bidding low, and don’t hold out for a reserve, or minimum, price that buyers must meet, advises Tane. You can sell vintage goods that are at least 20 years old on Etsy.com (20 cents to list an item for four months, plus 3.5% of the sale price). But Etsy isn’t an auction site, so your price won’t be bid up. You’ll make out best if items are sold individually or in small lots.

64. Redeem Rewards Points

You could be sitting on an untapped source of cash if you haven’t bothered to redeem your credit card rewards points lately. One-third of all rewards — everything from airline miles to cash back — worth a total of $16 billion go unredeemed each year, according to a study by marketing research firm Colloquy. Per household, that averages out to $205 worth of rewards a year that aren’t redeemed.
The next-best thing to getting cash-for-points is a general-purpose gift card. At American Express, for example, 5,000 Membership Rewards points earns you a $25 AmEx gift card that’s good in more than a million places. You can get more bang for your points by selecting a retailer-specific gift card — often $50 for 5,000 points.

65. Get Freelance Editorial Work

Plenty of media, corporate and nonprofit websites are looking for freelancers to write, edit or design content for an average of $25 per hour. Freelancewriting.com and Freelance Writing Jobs provide a long list of freelance writing opportunities culled from several top sites. Freelancer.com offers a wide variety of freelancing jobs in categories such as design, media and architecture or writing and content. For $21 a month or $145 for a one-year membership, you can join Mediabistro’s freelance marketplace to post your qualifications and be contacted by media managers for work. Krop is a useful site for developers and designers, and Freelance Photo Jobs consolidates listings for photographers.
Budding photographers can earn extra cash by selling their photos to sites such as iStock and Shutterstock. At both sites, you must apply to be a contributor by submitting samples of your photos, illustrations, videos or audio. If approved, you’ll earn royalties when your files are downloaded by paying clients. Shutterstock says the typical download generates $0.25 to $0.38 for the photographer. iStock pays a premium ($0.34 versus $0.28 for subscriber downloads) if you agree to contribute to iStock exclusively.

66. Sell Your Creations

If you have a knack for creating anything from baked goods to intricate art designs, you can profit from your talent.
It happened to Stacy Brown, founder of the Auburn, Ala.-based Chicken Salad Chick restaurant chain. Brown’s personal quest to create the perfect chicken salad morphed into a small side business where she was selling her creation from her house – until the health department informed her she couldn’t sell food from her home kitchen. Voila. A restaurant was born from whence a chain sprung (sprung chicken?).
So you’re an excellent baker (according to all your friends). You can find clients for your baked goods by volunteering to provide treats for your children’s school functions or for church or other religious gatherings, or by selling them at a farmer’s market, flea market or local festivals.
If art and design are more your speed, consider selling your creations at local craft shows – my 85-year-old mother does this with her intricate German scissor-cutting art – or on Etsy, DeviantArt or Zazzle. Etsy and Zazzle feature products like jewelry, quote posters, vintage clothing and even pet supplies. DeviantArt, which has a large following associated with its popular Tumblr, mainly sells art prints.

67. Cash in on Unused Gift Cards

About $44 billion worth of gift cards has gone unused over a six-year period, according to gift card resale site Gift Card Granny ($750 million in 2014 alone, according to advisory company CEB TowerGroup). So grab the unwanted cards you have lying around your house, and turn them into cash by selling them online at sites such as Gift Card Granny, Cardpool and Junkcard. You won’t get the full value of your card (up to 92% at best). But if you have no intention of using the card, it’s like getting free money. Cards for gas stations, grocery stores and retail chains (such as Exxon, Safeway and Wal-Mart) often bring the best offers.

68. Amend Your Tax Return

Consider amending recent years’ tax returns to claim missed deductions. For example, if you have a child in college, did you forget in any year to take advantage of the American Opportunity credit, worth up to $2,500 per student for each of the first four years of college? See The Most-Overlooked Tax Deductions for more breaks that might be worth amending your return to claim in hindsight.

69. Rent Out Your Home

Get cash in hand on the first of every month: Recruit a roommate to share living costs and/or rent. Just be sure to first consider 8 Reasons Roommates Fight About Money.
Not interested in a long-term houseguest? Websites including Airbnb make it easy to rent out a spare room, a wing of your house or a backyard cottage.
Beth Everett and her husband, Glenn, built a cottage in their backyard in 2014 for their son Jordan to live in when he’s home from college. But while the studio sits empty, visitors to Portland, Ore., can rent the cozy space through Airbnb for $99 a night.
Fox Lair, as it’s known, offers heated floors, a small sitting area decked out with guitars and bongos, and plenty of eclectic artwork. Everett estimates that in 2015 they earned about $9,000 from a steady stream of visitors, money she used to help pay for editing and cover designs for her self-published books, the Lee Harding mystery series. “It was the easiest money I ever made,” she says. “And it was fun.”
You can list your space free on Airbnb, then pay 3% to the site when you receive successful booking. (Airbnb will reimburse you up to $1 million for damage to your property.)

70. Join a Direct-Sales Company

These days, Avon isn’t the only direct-sales opportunity. You can start a side business selling anything from cookware to clothing to home decor to, yes, Tupperware. Popular possibilities include Mary Kay and the Pampered Chef. Internet Based Moms keeps a long list of direct-sales businesses. See our slide show 5 Great Ways to Make Money in Direct Sales.
With direct sales, start-up costs are usually low (figure $200 or less), your work schedule is flexible and earnings are commission-based (typically 25% to 30% of sales). Generally, you can increase your take by recruiting others to the sales team.

Top 70 Ways To Earn Extra Cash Online

71. Be a Blogger or YouTube Star

If you like to write, or think it would be fun to share your knowledge about a particular subject, start a blog. WordPress.org and Blogger.com offer free blogging platforms. You’ll need to pay a small amount (as little as $4 per month) to have your blog hosted. Try GoDaddy.com for domain name registration, as well as website building, hosting and security. Turn to Google AdSense for a free way to display ads on your site to earn money.
If you have a camera and something unique to share, you can cash in on YouTube. A reasonable goal for amateur filmmakers is to score viral fame with a YouTube channel. That means making a series of videos, each of which can run a little longer than three minutes. Highlight a specific skill or theme — say, cooking or standup comedy. Your videos will drive traffic to one another while you perfect your craft and earn “subscribers.” To generate views, reach out to media outlets and bloggers with a link to your video.
