What is Web-to-Print?

There are many misconceptions regarding the idea of web-to-print. For some people, it’s just merely transferring printing data to the print companies as an alternative to email or data transfer services. Some also think that it’s just ordering print products over the internet. These are just some of the aspects of web-to-print technology, no doubt, but not complete at all.

Web-to-Print is web-based print management or solution system for printing businesses all around the world. It allows the internet generation to order a product online through the system that generates a print-ready file that directly goes to the print companies for production.

In a more simplified way, web-to-print is the technology that uses internet service for commercial printing. It offers high-quality print-ready data for consistent print jobs for your eCommerce print service. It’s also known as W2P, Web2Print, Print eCommerce, or Remote publishing.

W2P provides your customers with a product ordering web portal where they can choose their desired products, design or personalize them, and order. A print file is produced that goes to the printer for production.

How Does Web-to-Print Solution Benefit Your Business?

1. Maintain Consistency of Your Brand

The web-to-Print solution enables design templates for your print business. You can easily set up your fixed brand template for each of your products. It remains with the printed product, even after a customer has personalized it according to his or her preferences.

You can create templates that fit all your products’ designs and also keep some information static for all the products. This way, your print business brand will be able to carry out the consistency.

2. Centralize You Purchasing, Shipping, and Billing Process

With web-to-print technology, you can centralize your purchasing, shipping, and billing process. Purchase your product or materials, pick your shipping company that meets all your requirements, and receive your invoices all at the same time.

  • Saves your management costs.
  • Avoid any purchase error beforehand.

3. Receive Proof Approval Virtually

Integrating web-to-print technology into your business makes you completely free from traveling to your print company to receive your proofs. You can review your design proof on your laptop screen and give your approval for production even when relaxing and having your evening coffee. It saves your time and unnecessary travel hassle as well as makes the production process faster. Everything is just one click away.

4. View The Catalog of Your Products In A More Centralized Way

The W2P system makes it possible for you to view the catalog of your products and print orders that you print in one place. It centralizes all your business data regarding your print jobs. It saves a lot of time for you or your management whenever seeking previous orders and related information.

5. Increases The Ordering Capabilities Remotely

With the successful inclusion of web-to-print technology into your business, you are capable of logging in into the system from anywhere anytime. You can smoothly handle multiple purchase orders remotely. You have the full administrative approval function in the system to manage the purchasing processes from anywhere you are at the time.

6. Web-to-Print Reduces Administrative and Inventory Costs

Order on-demand frees you from maintaining an inventory. W2P technology provides product self-customization to pricing and invoice solution and reduces pre-production involvement times. As you are managing and executing multiple steps before the order goes to the printer, it’s effectively saving a lot of your administrative costs. You are in complete control of customer order, approval, and transactions of your business.

7. Access & Order Whenever you Want

The web-to-print interface lets the customers place orders or reorders any time they want, even if it’s off-hours.  The customer doesn’t need to wait for the printers to open. Some of the product design interfaces include quoting or tired pricing options too, which makes it a lot easier when you have a deadline ahead.

8. Create & Control Your Brand With Web-to-Print

Digital printing, along with web-to-print, helps you to create your print business brand. Also, you have the option to create a logo template that will stay constant with each product you sell even while the product is customized.

Moreover, it saves a lot of your valuable time from redesigning your products to showcase your brand specifically. Customers may customize the products, but the predesigned template is there to advertise your brand consistently.

9. Fast Order Processing

You already have a business page set up online. When a customer places an order, your web-to-print solution enables an option for you to receive a print-ready file like JPG/SVG. You can directly send the print file to your printer company for fast production. It makes the order process a hundred times faster for you.

How can Your Customers Benefit from Web-to-Print Technology?

With web-to-print technology, your customers are in charge of whatever their needs are. They can get the service they want, whenever and in whatever way they want. You only need to choose the right web-to-print solution and integrate it with your current business model. The rest requires waiting.

1. Custom Print Jobs Of Different Quantities

Think about explaining your customer requirements to the print companies every single time you receive an order. Isn’t it very tiring and time-consuming?

For example – one of your customers wants to send a particular Christmas card to 200 people, and the printer doesn’t require a lot of explanation here. But, what if the customer wants to send a certain number of cards designed and addressed to specific people, another particular design with a different image on it while a few more with other requirements.

So, it’s easily understandable that this print job requires a lot of explanations. In this scenario, not only you but most print businesses don’t have the time or energy to engage in such long-winded interactions with the printer.

With a web-to-print solution, your customers can place different types of orders whenever they want and no interactions required. As the business owner, you can plan your order style and design decision with multiple orders you are about to send to the print company.

No long-winded interactions or going back and forth needed in the print job. All you need to do is to set up a template of the Christmas card, and customers will do their design based on their preferences.

2. Secure Your Printing Environment

Not only you but also all the businesses in the world want to protect their brand identity. You will never allow any unauthorized access to any sophisticated information regarding your marketing or promotional materials. Also, you will try die-hard to protect your marketing or promotional endeavors from your competitors. You surely don’t want your competitors to know the secret of how you are attracting and engaging your customers.

Surprisingly, the traditional ways leave a backdoor open, where your corporate identity and your print data can fall into the wrong hands easily. But, the successful installation of a web-to-print technology provides a secure print environment.

Minor or significant changes in the core system consistently change to protect your identity and improve the experience of your customers and prospects. Web-to-print technology ensures the utmost security by blocking unauthorized access to your business’s data.

3. Your Customer is in Charge

Many print businesses don’t have an in-house printing department. So, they integrate print service providers with their company. It helps them reduce the total costs as well as cut down on overheads. But, in most cases, there’s hardly a print department needed.

Business, along with its associates, everyone loves to be in charge. In conventional print businesses, the printing company is in charge of the print process usually. But web-to-print has changed the scenario now by taking command of the majority of the printing process. Printers now only execute the print order and deliver it to the business’ or customers’ address.

The web-to-print business solution is the more likely in-house print department where customers are in charge of the design or other activities.

4. A Long Term Fruitful Relationship With Your Customers

If your printers succeed in delivering exact order along with quality, your customers are happy. It leads to a long term and fruitful relationship with your customers. You won’t even have to waste time to impress your customers and prospects. They are already in charge of doing all the work from designing products to pricing and quoting.

Moreover, your customers are rather happy due to the control over their print job decision. Because they know their requirements won’t be lost in the process of translation or finding actual meaning. No doubt, it’s a win-win situation for both.

5. Saves Time, Money & Reduces Material Waste

Imagine one of your customers requires 1000 flyers to distribute. But he isn’t sure how many he should order. So he places 1500 for safety. Later he finds only 800 distributed, and the rest 700 flyers are wasted. So, for him, it’s a waste of money, and as a business owner, your time and materials wasted.

With an on-demand web-to-print service, your customers won’t need to worry about running out of materials. It helps prevent over-ordering and saves your customers from wasting their valuable money and time as well as your materials.

Through web-to-print service, your customer can order and reorder only in small batches like 250 flyers at a time. W2P brought a revolutionary change and solution to the print industry.

What Are The Benefits of Using Web2print to a Company And it Customers?

Web2print solutions can help your business by:

Brand consistency. Use your own templates to make sure that all of your printed materials stay on brand. Your templates can be made with customized designs and personalization.

Reduces time. Web2print brings all the control to your fingertips. So, you reduce time by having fewer meetings to finalize designs and approve different stages. You don’t have to wait for samples to be sent either – everything is available for you to see onscreen and just needs your approval.

Reduces costs. Web2print provides you with the ability to order on demand. This means that you can order things as and when you need them, rather having to meet certain requirements and having an inventory that you don’t currently use. By eliminating some of the normal steps that go into an order, you’ll also reduce overall costs.

Order from anywhere. All you need are the login details and access to a web browser and off you go! This means that you’re not restricted to one location and can place orders remotely from wherever you like. This is also beneficial as more than one person can make orders, should the other be out of the office or occupied with other tasks.

View a catalogue of products at one time. Should you need to reorder, view your previous orders at the click of a button. This saves time compared to having to root for the latest invoice and manually check the last order.

What Are Some Benefits of Technologies And Print Media?

Digital printing technology helps produce high-quality products that directly benefit customers. The best thing about the modern printing industry is that customers are the biggest beneficiaries of expanded capabilities.

1. Ease of use and reliability. “It gets easier and easier for our franchisees and their teams to operate integrated digital printing equipment. Technology advancements have also made for a cleaner working environment as we move away from inks and solvents. There is more reliability and less waste thanks to these upgrades.”

2. Personalized print on demand with low inventory. “Digital printing allows print on demand to take center stage. This lowers the inventory needed for our franchisees and allows our customers to get personalized printing and marketing solutions using variable data printing. Whether clients need hundreds or thousands of items, we can do it on demand.”

3. Enhanced technology to streamline workflow. “Technology has afforded better automated options to produce jobs easier and more efficiently. This means that there is reduced labor, which is a real cost-effective benefit that can be passed along to our customers.”

4. Integrating print with online marketing to increase return on investment (ROI). “It is important to meet and engage with clients across multiple touchpoints. As an example of this cross-media marketing approach we are offering a new direct mail program that is integrated with online marketing and designed to seamlessly track the effectiveness of direct mail campaigns.

This program works as an add-on service to our direct mail campaigns by offering enhanced automated mail tracking, call tracking, and follow-up marketing with Google. The ROI for direct mail can be a 20-46% lift using this program.”

5. There is a wider variety of products and services available more than ever before. “The printing industry today is versatile and can accommodate virtually everything that people need to promote their businesses or special events. Our centers are at the forefront of innovation and technology and our franchise owners can produce so many items in-house.

Examples include mugs, t-shirts, hats, custom branded apparel, specialized printing on metal, wood, and other surfaces using dye sublimation printing, and so much more.”

Ultimately, the digital printing revolution has sparked advancements in technology that continue to deliver tangible results for both Minuteman Press digital printing franchise owners and their clients. Digital printing allows for high-quality products, personalized printing, and enhanced finishing options that are cost-effective with fast turnaround.

The best part is that once a finished printed product is in their hands, your customers will be able to feel, read about, and connect with your brand in a way that is just so refreshing and real in this era of digital fatigue.

What is Web and Print Technology?

The meanings of words and technical phrases often change over time. For instance, the term “Web printing” once referred solely to a print shop technology innovation that revolutionized the newspaper and magazine publishing industry. Today, the word “Web” is applied not just to printing but also to other technologies, products or services that utilize the World Wide Web.

Traditional Web Offset Printing

The newspapers or business journals you read were probably produced by web printing technology. This method of offset printing uses large rolls or webs of paper rather than individual sheets. A literal web of paper streams through the printer at high speeds.

Web offset printing is used for high-volume printing tasks such as newspapers, magazines, promotional brochures, direct mail and mass-market paperback books.

Internet Printing Services

A modern take on web printing uses the marketing term “web-to-print.” Web-to-print service providers allow businesses to produce high-quality printed documents without the need for expensive, in-house printing equipment.

Web-to-print services require you to upload a PDF version of your book, catalog or brochure using your Web browser. The printing service then prints your document, binds or folds it if necessary, and ships the final, finished product to you.

Internet Printing

Internet printing technology uses Web protocols to print a document from your PC to a network printer that could be located in your office or across the globe. Your Web browser, word processor or database application can send a print job to a remote printer by using the same router, domain name resolution server, Web server and HTTP technology that the World Wide Web depends upon. Your application finds and connects to the remote printer by using its URL Web address.

HP Smart Web Printing

The Hewlett-Packard company had a proprietary product called “HP Smart Web Printing ” that helped users print content from websites with more control than was possible with default Web browsing printing utilities.

HP Smart Web Printing — now known as HP Smart Print — is an add-on application for Windows Internet Explorer. Smart Print lets you scale Web page views to fit your printer’s default page size, or you can clip only those sections of one or more Web pages that you need and paste them into a new, printable document.

What is an Advantage of Digital Printing?

Digital printing is a new paradigm for the industry. It provides more choices, features and flexibility than older methods such as offset or flexographic printing. Today, we expect printed materials to be accurate and up to date – clients need printers to be able to produce cost-effective, high-quality, short-run color printing in the fastest possible time frame.

However, it is not always easy to decide which process will best suit your job, so before you choose how to print your design, there are a few things you should consider. Below is a guide to help you understand the advantages of digital printing.

High Quality: This offers impressive quality and consistency over the other options. The colors show up perfectly on the prints and there are no issues with harsh lines. With digital printing, the quality of the last card, brochure or flyer in a batch is same as that of the first.

Timeliness: There are fewer steps in the printing process, and as a result, the final product can be delivered quicker.

Cost-Effective: Because printing plates are not required, there is less investment involved to set up a single job.

Short Runs: Digital printing is the ideal method of producing short to medium print runs compared to traditional methods.

Customization: Digital printing provides the most affordable solution to customize marketing materials, direct mail pieces and letters, business cards, and more.

How Does Web Print Work?

Although the name may suggest a link to the internet, the machine is actually an enhanced version of the classic lithographic printing method that provides the same extraordinary results. Also known as a roll-fed press, a web press is a modern offset printing press attached to a massive roll of paper. As paper unwinds, it forms an uninterrupted “web” through the press.

Each paper roll can weigh up to one ton each. A series of rollers, also called festoons, secure the paper in place to keep it taut while feeding into the printer. Festoons also regulate the speed for which the paper moves through the press. Separation and cutting of the paper occur after printing.

Using a large roll of paper allows for continuous printing for a fast and streamlined production turnaround. Even if a roll of paper ends, the printing process continues. For maximum efficiency, the festoons mechanically splice a new paper roll to the old roll. A press operator oversees the process, but an automated process controls the printing and splicing.

Clients with print runs of 10,000 to 50,000 or more impressions find the most value in this printing method. It’s also the most cost-friendly choice for long books with batches as low as 1,000 or 2,000. We print high-volume publications such as:

  • Books
  • Brochures
  • Catalogs
  • Directories
  • Magazines
  • Manuals
  • Packaging

What Are The Importance of Print Media?

Whilst we are living in an increasingly digital world, print media is still an incredibly important part of the marketing mix. Investing in print media can help businesses to extend their reach to potential customers, gain exposure and engage their target audiences with campaigns. Here are five reasons why printed material is effective:

It can be targeted

Printed media can be tailored to your target market, both in terms of the style of design as well as in how you distribute the material. This means you can focus your marketing budget on reaching the audience you want and make the material relevant and appealing to them.

It can create credibility

Another reason why print media is important is because it creates credibility. Investing in printed material signals to customers that you are serious about your business and that you offer a worthwhile product or service.

It can create engagement

Printed materials can also create engagement between the customer and the brand. By providing interesting articles to read, special offers or amusing copy there is the opportunity to provide a connection between the reader and the product that can lead to brand awareness and sales.

It can be kept

Unlike webpages, print media has a longer lifespan. Rather than spending a few seconds on a site and then moving on, brochures and leaflets can be picked up and put down and referred back to. They can also be passed onto friends or colleagues, maximizing the reach of your campaign.

It can link to digital campaigns

Finally, print media offers the chance to link a paper with online content. Examples here include the use of a QR code or referral to a website for more information or to make an online order.

How Has Technology Affected Print Media?

Print and electronic media play an important role in communication effectively as the world has been globalized. The technology used for communication should not be overlooked, because the interchange of information is necessary in the current era. Print and electronic media have globalized the world. The news or communication can be done easily from corner to corner just in a few seconds.

Technology has impacted communication in a positive way. In the current world, communication has been distributed between print and electronic media. These two Media are playing a vital role in communicating between individuals and society.

News, comment, information and entertainment, are the complex set of newspapers, and the arrangement of these contents differs from paper to paper. Most people choose their daily paper to match their specific tastes, and individual newspapers have developed in different ways to provide for these.

What Are The Advantage of Printing?

Most business people look at printers as a necessity. After all, how else do you get documents in a “usable” format? Given the widespread use of electronic documents like Adobe’s PDF format, e-readers, and increased environmental consciousness, paper is less necessary with each passing day. Electronic files can be sent instantly around the world and offer convenience for travelers. Still, holding a piece of paper with your data has its advantages.

Convenience

One of the key advantages of printing out material is that it is convenient. If you need to mark it up or make notes on it, it is easy to do. Most printed documents are lighter and, when folded, smaller than a tablet or notebook computer. They are also easily replaced, so losing them or getting them wet isn’t a major concern.

Secure Delivery

Paper records can be anonymously delivered. Emailing a document creates a chain that shows who sent it, when they sent it and to whom they sent it. Once someone prints out a document, on the other hand, they can deliver it or not deliver it to anyone without creating a record of the delivery. This can be useful if you need to send information without having someone intercept it or without creating a record that you sent it.

Ease of Reading

For many people, printed documents remain easier to read. The text on a printed document is, as of 2012, sharper than the sharpest display. While the iPad 3’s display renders text with 264 dots per inch, even inexpensive printers can output 600 dots per inch.

Most tablet and computer displays are backlit and glossy. This makes them prone to washing out in direct sunlight and prone to glare. The printed page, on the other hand, is easy to read in anything but dark conditions.

What is Web-based Printing?

Web-based printing, a software feature often used on large networks, is simply a user interface for selecting files from a computer and sending them to be printed on one or more printers on a network. The user interface is accessible via a Web browser rather than special software. Although anyone with Web access can get to the interface, Web-printing usually requires a username and password.

A Web-based printer is physically the same as an ordinary printer, but has the added ability to connect to the Internet through Wi-Fi or a wired network. As with ordinary printers, Web-based printers come in color and monochrome, and in laser or ink-jet versions.

Depending on the model, you send jobs to be printed on the printer either though a dedicated application, or by sending a file to a special email address assigned to the printer.

What Are The 5 Advantages of Digital Printing?

1. Fast turnaround

Due to the fact that digital printing does not require any pre-press procedures or plates, the initial set up time greatly reduced. This means that the printing process can begin at the time of order – great for when you need your digital print in a hurry!

2. Cost-effective

Digital printing does not incur any of the additional costs required to create specific printing plates. This means that digital printing offers the more cost effective printing solution, especially for shorter print runs.

3. Customizable

Thanks to Variable Data Printing (VDP), individual graphic and text can be customized on a print-by-print basis. This is particularly of use for business owners who may want to tailor and personalize their direct mail campaigns based on their target audience.

4. High quality

The Liquid Electroink Process (LEP) capability held by our HP Indigo Digital Presses is enough to produce results that surpass the quality offered by traditional print methods. What’s more, digital printing enables easy sampling of colour accuracy and the like, which can be subsequently tweaked with much greater ease than with traditional offset printing.

5. Versatile

HP Indigo printers have an extensive media range, enabling printing on over 3,000 certified substrates, including synthetics, darks and metallics. This means that no matter your requirements, be they simple or complex, HP Indigo Digital Printing is the perfect solution for you.

Why is it Called Web Offset Printing?

Offset printing technology uses plates, usually made from aluminum, which are used to transfer an image onto a rubber “blanket”, and then rolling that image onto a sheet of paper. It’s called offset because the ink is not transferred directly onto the paper.

Because offset presses run so efficiently once they are set up, offset printing is the best choice when larger quantities are needed, and provides accurate color reproduction, and crisp, clean professional looking printing.

What are the Advantages of Offset Printing:

  • Large quantities can be printed cost effectively
  • The more you print, the cheaper the price per piece
  • A large variety of paper types with custom finishes can be used
  • Special custom inks such as metallic and Pantone colors are available
  • Highest possible printing quality, with greater detail and color fidelity

What is The Importance of Print Media to The Marketing Industry?

Looking for way to break through the communication barrier between you and your prospects? In today’s digital age, it’s easy for your target market to become saturated with online advertisements and email marketing. It’s time to take a proven approach to reaching your prospects, print media.

According to PrintIsBig.com, U.S. and worldwide industry statistics, U.S. advertisers spend on average $167 per person on direct mail to earn $2,095 worth of goods sold. That’s a 1,300% return on investment!

Below are 6 reasons that stress the importance of print media and why your print media publications will make a lasting impact on your target market.

1. Print is Tangible

Publications, brochures, posters and other types of printed materials are physical items. These items can stay in offices or homes for months or even years after they are received. While many non-physical marketing materials are useful for a single purpose, the benefits of print media extend farther than most people think.

2. Print is Credible

Like the feeling you get when you see The New York Times or your favorite magazine on the rack, there is something to be said about the feeling of legitimacy that comes from print. You are able to put the printed piece down and comeback at any time to resume your reading.

And print media requires “real estate”. As marketers, we like this! A  printed piece placed on the corner of a desk will be there day after day until it is picked back up to be viewed.

3. Print Establishes Your Brand

Marketers know the significance of having a well recognized brand, and printed publications and other branded materials are an excellent way to establish your brand. It allows you to bring the aesthetic qualities of font, colors, images and texture that helps to establish brand recognition.

4. Print Helps You Reach Your Target Market

The design and placement of your company ads in publications, newspapers and magazines can help you reach your target audience, whether it be a niche market or the general public. By leveraging the data of demographics, you are able to strategically place your brand in the right place at the right time, in front of the right audience.

5. Print is More Engaging

Websites are often skimmed in as little as 15 seconds per visit. When a customer or prospect reads a printed material, they are more engaged for a longer period of time. On average, a consumer spend 43 minutes reading a magazine.

6. Less Print, Is More For You

With more companies taking their marketing efforts online, the old has become new again as print media becomes the new trend. But this isn’t your parents’ world of print media communications! Marketers have more information and data to make calculated decisions about content, consumption, consumers, and collateral types.

Customers’ and prospects’ email inboxes are overflowing with unsolicited ads and non-worthy news, most of which is largely ignored. With this in mind, designing and sharing a great printed marketing piece should be high on your list of strategic marketing initiatives.
