In this modern world, cell phones have a notable impact on the lives of people everywhere. With the implementation of the latest technological updates, Cell phones have brought new meaning to the term multitasking. This has elevated to a whole new level with the Tasker app. Android is about customization and making our phone work for us, and nothing exemplifies that quite as well as Tasker, which is a paid Android app that triggers certain actions to be run if specific conditions are met. The tasks that are automated on our Android devices with the help of the Tasker app are the Tasker profiles. In simple terms, we assign a series of tasks that our device completes automatically when the pre-described set of conditions are satisfied.

Getting Started with Tasker:

For the first time, we will see the app in a beginner’s version. We can notice three tabs at the top of the page: Profiles, Tasks, and Scenes. We can easily switch to a more advanced model in the app’s preferences. In Tasker’s preferences, we can also modify other app areas, such as how the app displays itself.

One can use Tasker for different reasons. To send reminder text messages to someone after going to sleep, for example. Also, a device needs to be disconnected from the Wi-Fi at a certain hour or close certain apps when the battery is low. Whatever the reason/condition is for using an automation app, Tasker is the suitable app for performing all such needs.

Creating Profile on Tasker:

First up, We open Tasker and choose the Profiles tab, tap the + button within the bottom-right corner. From there, you will prompt us to a feature that displays the first “Context,” which is essentially a trigger that will activate our profile and execute the task. After that, we will see six different categories, which hold multiple triggers, primarily. When we choose one among these categories, we will see a list containing more distinctive features:

Tasks:

Click on Tasks Tab. Press the + sign to line up tasks that we would link with the profiles we made. We can set up individual tasks as well whenever required.

Scenes:

This is something we would not need very often. So instead, this is used to decide how the interface would look like.

Vars:

Vars is the short form of the word “variable.” As the name suggests, it can take up different values. Thus, the variables are often anything like “date,” “time,” or any such system information.

Applications of Tasker App:

Send an Emergency Text:

This is one of the very useful tasker profiles we can trigger on Tasker. So whenever our phone runs out of battery, but we have got to send an urgent SMS to someone, Tasker can slide in for the rescue. All that needs to be done is, customize the tasker app to send SMS even on low battery and notice it works like a charm.

Reading Out the SMS Loud While Driving:

Another interesting feature of the app is that if we drive and receive an SMS, we need not worry about checking it because Tasker will get our phone to read out the SMS aloud without having us try to do anything.

Turn On Battery Saving Mode On:

Automating smartphones to turn on the battery’s saving mode when the mobile battery is low is an utterly useful feature and will save us from sudden battery lapse. The best part is, Tasker can smoothly accomplish this task.

Keep The Screen On While Reading Any e-Book:

When reading an ebook on mobile, we always prefer to keep the mobile screen lit and ON. If we are avid readers, we can surely understand the pain when the screen display gets to turn off automatically, but with Tasker, making few required changes can assuredly give us the desired result and apt e-book reading experience. Also, here are some alternatives to tasker profiles. Do use them and don’t feel ignored. Tasker profiles might come in handy, but some of its competitors are even smart in delivering the best profiles ever to manage all your tasks.

Set Phone to Mute Calls When Turned Upside-Down:

When we are in the middle of a lecture or a gathering, Tasker profile can spare us some real embarrassment and thus mute calls when done the same.

Use Tasker Profiles to Secure Apps:

Our desire for privacy is a part of what makes us human. None of us likes to have our privacy invaded, whether by someone reading over our shoulder or a data breach. Thankfully, the Tasker app provides the feature to lock several essential applications from the prying eyes.

While Tasker incorporates a lot of power, it remains hard to pass its steep learning curve. At times, a misconfiguration can cause weird behavior of the device. And even though everything seems to be right at times, Tasker doesn’t work or fails in its functioning. Thus, it’s mostly a successful trial technique to be acquainted with, and patience is the key to smooth automation in this context.
