An audiophile is someone who expects the highest sound quality from their music every time they listen. If you’re a true audiophile, you’ll most likely already have a fantastic record player or hi-fi sound system at home, but what about when you’re on the go? You’ll need a smartphone with high-quality audio capability for this.

That might have been difficult to obtain in the past when mobile phone manufacturers were more focused on developing faster CPUs, longer battery lives, and better cameras.

Mobile phones, on the other hand, have come a long way in the last decade and it has made listening to music a treat for audiophiles.

The research has been done, we have hand-picked the best of the best, and compiled this list of the three greatest Android phones for audiophiles. Why Android, you might wonder. iPhones are fantastic devices in general, but they’re not known for their audio capabilities. When it comes to music playback, Android reigns supreme, which is why you won’t find an Apple product on this list. Let’s get this party started!

Razer Phone

The Razer Phone takes the top rank, which is surprising given that Razer has previously been recognized for designing goods exclusively for gamers. They’re apparently appealing to audiophiles as well – or perhaps gamers simply expect the highest sound quality. What are the chances? In any case, the Razer Phone’s sound quality is excellent. It actually has the loudest speaker sound output of any phone on the market right now, so if you want to crank up the volume, this could be the phone for you. The sound is not just loud, but also high-resolution thanks to the Phone’s Dolby Atmos processing. As an added bonus, the Razer Phone is likely to outperform all of your expectations. This smartphone has got a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 8GB RAM, which means that it is powerful and will run games and apps smoothly. It also has a 12MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. The downside of this smartphone is that it doesn’t have a headphone jack. If you don’t mind going wireless, though, this is definitely your go-to smartphone.

Android Phones For Audiophiles

Samsung Galaxy S9

The Samsung Galaxy S9 is our number two phone for one reason and one reason only: it comes with a headphone jack. That’s right, whereas practically every other phone maker (mistakenly) assumed we all wanted to go wireless, Samsung stood firm and kept the classic headphone port. They should be commended for that. Because the S9 has a headphone jack, you may improve the sound quality even further by using high-quality earphones or headphones with it. Okay, we lied when we stated the S9 made the list for only one reason; there are a few more reasons as well. For starters, the speakers are of great quality, thanks to Samsung’s collaboration with AKG. They also made sure to include a driver on the bottom, as well as the ability for the earpiece speaker to emit audio so that the audio does not become disproportionate. It may also be quite loud — not quite as loud as the Razer, but loud nonetheless. It’s so loud that you’ll rarely, if ever, need to turn it up all the way. The S9 missed out on the top slot because it lacks a turbo-charged quad DAC, which means it can’t match the superior sound quality of true audiophile headphones. It’s also not as powerful as the Razer because it only has 4GB of RAM, and the front camera is only 5MP, so the picture quality isn’t quite as fantastic. Aside from that, it’s a fantastic phone.

LGV30

The LGV30 is ranked third, and it’s another gadget that, happily, still has a headphone port. Not only does it include a headphone jack, but it also comes with a fantastic pair of headphones to use with it. Bang & Olufsen are sound experts and high-end audio makers, so you can expect crisp, clear, high-fidelity sound from these headphones. The 32-bit ESS Sabre ES9218P DAC is even superior to the headphone jack. It translates the digital audio files into signals that your earphones can understand and play, minimising harmonic distortion by enhancing your dynamic range. The sole issue – and the reason for this being ranked third – is the speakers. They’re good, but not spectacular, and they’re certainly not capable of producing the kind of sound quality that even the most discerning audiophiles would expect. With the LGV30, it’s all about the sound quality. Still, no phone speaker on this list will be able to compete with high-end hi-fi equipment, so chances are you’re primarily interested in the headphone quality for when you’re on the road. If that’s the case, the LGV30 could be an excellent choice.

Concluding

We hope you enjoyed our list of the best Android phones for audiophiles and found some inspiration for your next buy. All that’s left to do now is get your new phone and start listening to the high-quality sound. Have a blast!
