Are you expecting some money from abroad but concerned about how you should get it? Well, PayPal is here for you. It is, perhaps, the most popular payment system in the world. Back in the old days, sending and receiving money was quite a hassling task. Besides, if the money transfer is to take place across the national boundaries, it was an even more resource-consuming task.
But PayPal had revolutionized the method since its inception back in 1998. At present, PayPal is the most trusted and convenient online payment system that is an electronic alternative to traditional money transfer methods.
In this article, I am going to share with you how you can accept payments on PayPal.
How to Receive a PayPal Payment
You can send and receive your money anywhere in the world using PayPal. One can use PayPal for both personal and business interests.
Open an Account
To accept any payment, you need to open a PayPal account. The task is quite simple. You can use any search engine to find out the website of PayPal.
Once you are on the PayPal site, you will see the “Sign up” option on the top right corner to create an account.
On the next page, you will be given two options –personal or a business PayPal account.
Let’s consider you want to create a personal PayPal account.
After you click on the option, the next page will ask you to provide some details such as your country, name, email, and a very strong password.
When you click on the “next”, you have to give some more personal information such as date of birth, address, and contact information.
Then you have to click on the “Agree and Create Account” button, and your account will be created.
Link Your Bank Account or Credit card with PayPal
Although it’s not necessary to link your bank account or credit card, it gives you more options. Your account will only be verified after you link either a bank account or a credit card.
One benefit of verifying the account is that you can do large transactions. If your account is not verified, PayPal will freeze any significant amount of money transferred to your account.
Once your account is created, you will see on the page the “Try it now” button. To verify your account, you have to click on it. Then you will be asked to put the details of your card. If you don’t have a card, you can provide the details of your bank account.
You will see the option below to link your bank account. After you click on it, the page will ask for your bank account details. And once you put all the details there, click on the “Link your card” button. A confirmation email will be sent after that.
Then you have to log in to your email account and confirm the mail from there. Once you click on the “Confirm Email Address” button, you will be redirected to the PayPal website once again. You will be asked to give your password to log in. At this point, you have a perfect PayPal account.
Receive/Accept The Money
Now that you have a fresh and verified PayPal account, you can transact anytime, anywhere. To receive money from someone, you have to give him/her the PayPal email with which you created the account. PayPal treats your email as the account number. Quite simple, right?
There’s another way you can receive money. You can create a PayPal.me link in your PayPal account.
To create this link, click on the “setting” button in the top right corner.
You will see the “Get PayPal.Me” button. After you click on it, you will be given the option to create a link. That will be your PayPal.Me link.
Now how do you use it? Quite easy. You can now give this link to someone you are expecting to receive money from. Either you can share your email or this PayPal.Me link.
If someone sends money to your PayPal account, you will be able to see it right after you log in. On the top left corner, you can see the total amount in your account. After someone has sent you a sum of money, PayPal will send you an email with details including the transaction ID, date, and the account from which the amount has been sent.
Receive Money on Your Business Account
You might wonder about using a business account. Well, the process of creating a business account is almost the same. Once you click on the business account option, you will be taken to the page where you have to provide the details of your business, i.e. business name, business address, and other contact information.
After you click on “Agree and Continue”, you will be asked to select the type of your business. Whether it’s a solo, corporation, partnership, or nonprofit organization, you can select accordingly.
After that, you will be asked to provide some more information such as your business category – education, craft, beauty, etc., when the business started, business website link, and total monthly sales.
Now you click on the “Continue” button, you have to provide some more personal information. Then your account will be created.
Finally, now you can transact the same way as you do through your personal PayPal account.
Add PayPal Button to Your Website:
Wouldn’t it be so convenient if your customer could send you money through your website? Well, PayPal gives you this option as well. If you have a business account, you can add a PayPal button to your site.
After you log in to your account, you can see a “Tools” button. When you click on it, select the “All Tools” button.
Scrolling down, you will see the option “PayPal Buttons”. After you click on it, you have to select the kind of button you would like to add – Buy Now, Smart Buttons, Add to Cart, and Donate.
Selecting any of these, now you have to provide information accordingly. Then click “Create Button”. You will be taken to a page where you will find a box that contains HTML code. Copy the HTML code from there and paste it on your website’s HTML code. Immediately, the button will be created.
