An Expedia travel trend analysis predicts that in 2025, travelers would favor quieter, less well-known locations over well-known tourist destinations. Nearly two-thirds of respondents to the company’s annual survey stated that they would probably take their next trip to an obscure location.

Following this trend, locations like Bansko, Bulgaria, and Pondicherry, a beach city in South India, are included on Lonely Planet’s list even though they aren’t currently popular tourist destinations worldwide. They are listed with popular destinations like Osaka, Japan.

These are the top 10 cities to visit in 2025, from the immaculate white-sand beaches of Palma de Mallorca, Spain, to the verdant botanical gardens of Curitiba, Brazil.
