We, at Nail Salon Estero, brought together a few tips and tricks to get that salon like mani within the comfort of your home. Follow along to get that Hollywood manicure:
- Clean Your Nails
You always want a clean surface to work with. After you wash your hands, clean your nails with a good nail polish remover. You want to make sure that your nails are squeaky clean.
- Cut, File and Buff
Cut your nails. To keep the length that you want, always cut a little less. The rest of the length is adjusted when you file them. Then you file your nails to get that shape that you want. Make it square, almond or stilettos, anything you prefer. Lastly, you grab your buffer and buff away. Bring out that natural shine.
- Push Back your Cuticles
Prep your cuticles. Apply a cuticle remover to soften them. Then with a cuticle stick, push back gently. This brings out your nail. However, do not cut those cuticles as they protect your nails from bacteria and keeps them soft.
- Exfoliate your Hands
Using a scrub, exfoliate your hands, wrists and forearms. This will remove any dead skin and tanning. With the same cuticle stick, remove any dirt that is stuck underneath the nail. Wash your hands afterwards.
- Moisturize your Hands
After you wash your hands, they may tend to become dry. Solution? Moisturize. Moisturizing at this stage will avoid you nail color from smudging and you nourish your cuticles at the same time. At this point, give yourself a massage with your moisturizer.
- Apply a Base Coat
Before applying any nail color, wipe off your nails to remove any leftover moisturizer. Then apply a base coat to hydrate and protect the nails from chipping. Leave it for a few minutes to dry out.
- Apply the First Coat of Color
Here comes the part you have been waiting for. Apply the first coat of color on your nails. Make sure that you brush all the way down and fill in the corners of your nail. Cover up as much as you can. Make sure to stroke in one direction.
- Apply Your Second Coat
After drying your nails for two minutes, go ahead and apply the second coat. Make sure to keep it nice and thin.
- Finish with a Top Coat
